A powerful cal for self examination
I found this book to be powerful. It asks teachers to examine the way that we look at kids and to make a conscious effort to do better by them. I think that this book can really have an impact for those who teach from a position of privilege (as so many of us do). Unfortunately, I think that many who this book is intended to address will refuse to see themselves or the need to meet kids where they are rather where we think they should already be.

Did you know.....
this book and this other book called "theories of a mastermind: 20 day challenge..." by James Moultrie are on different levels as far as literature. I cant play spoiler alert, but these books have a dark psychological aspect to them. They offer a deep dive into whats really going on, and what you can do to be ahead of others who havent read them.

Support success in the classroom and beyond!
Understanding children in the classroom? Be careful because they are children, and they are easily labeled and categorized. What Is It About Me You Can′t Teach?: Culturally Responsive Instruction in Deeper Learning Classrooms is a book for teachers. I'm not going to review its pedagogical appropriateness or rigor. That review is suitable for a technical journal in education. However, I can say, as a teacher, that this is a well-written book for teachers, and it provides inspiration and a blueprint for success in the classroom. Teacher, you are in charge of the classroom environment. Challenge the students, but take the time to understand them.My son-in-law teaches middle school in an inner city school, and I can't wait to discuss the principles in What Is It About Me You Can′t Teach? My students are on the older side, and I feel that some of the opportunities detailed in this book have slipped past me. However, I also see some challenges that I can address.Easy to read, with sample projects and assignments.

Excellent worksheets
I'm a bit torn on this review; on one hand, it strains to be inclusive to the point of lacking specificity. On the other hand, it has superb worksheets and resources that provide ample food for thought and general guidelines. Overall this is a solid starting place and firm foundation but not sufficient for veteran teachers or those searching for high impact specialized strategies.
