Great but if you need full bandwidth choose the 1200AC version
As someone needed to extend our connectivity to the outside and far away from our router, I recently added the WAVLINK Outdoor Wi-Fi Range Extender to my setup, and it almost was everything we needed.First and foremost, the range extender's high-power capability is impressive. It extends my Wi-Fi coverage to cover the back park area of our church, but it was just outside of the 5G bandwidth that we needed. We were trying to utilize NDI video as well as livestreaming at Hi-Def 1080 p. If we were only trying to connect the cams and didn’t need to up stream at 10M, this one would have been enough. But we were needing to upload with that bandwidth. The power of Ethernet made it possible to move this device far from a wired setup, and only had the Ethernet cable to connect. Having power as part of the hardwiring network connection made this extender much more capable than ordinary extenders. The dual-band functionality is great. With both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The 2.4GHz band offers extended range and better coverage, while the 5GHz band provides faster speeds –just not enough for the distance involved and the amount of date being used on the local network.Weatherproofing is a standout feature of this Wi-Fi extender. Rain or shine, I never have to worry about its durability or performance. It can withstand the elements, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even during inclement weather.Setting up the range extender was surprisingly straightforward. The user-friendly interface and clear instructions made the installation process hassle-free. In no time, I had a stable and reliable outdoor Wi-Fi network.Due to the fact that this model was a lower bandwidth version of its big brother – we decided to move up to the 1200AC version. While this is rated for outside, and the fact that we had hardwired upload capabilities inside, we moved this version to the sanctuary and installed it so that the 5G signal would be line-of-site no matter what. With that set-up, we now have an internal Wi-Fi video NDI streaming network inside. I have never before seen such smooth video coming into our main computer. In conclusion, the WAVLINK Outdoor Wi-Fi Range Extender AC600 is a great addition for anyone looking to extend their Wi-Fi coverage to outdoor spaces. Its high power, (but is on the lower end of bandwidth) dual-band capability, weatherproof design, and versatile operation modes make it an ideal solution for seamless connectivity beyond the boundaries of your home. This extender delivers top-notch performance and reliability. Embrace limitless connectivity with the WAVLINK Outdoor Wi-Fi Range Extender and enjoy a whole new level of outdoor internet access!

No repeat repeater !
I bought this to use as my back yard wifi source...I have cameras, a wifi birdfeeder and we like to sit outside and listen to music via an Alexa Echo. This came quickly and I was very excited to set it up...I had another brand repeater that would just not stay connected or stable. I got this set up ( you have to connect it directly to a pc via ethernet cable ) to reach the admin page. Establishing 2.4 and 5 ghz channels went smoothly. I primarily wanted to set this an an Access Point, since I have a stone house and signals from my ATT router don't penetrate very well. I ha a new 5e ethernet outdoor cable set up. The POE unit was easy to install and the unit powered up right away. I tried at least 30 times to install it in AP mode....each time a red X appeared on the graphic from router to the unit. I contacted the help desk but they just repeated the setup as shown in the manual. The unit worked ok in repeater node but will not stay connected in AP mode for more than a few seconds. After extensive testing I (and the help desk) concluded that this is a defective unit and I requested a refund and am returning the unit to Amazon. I am not going to buy this brand again because I feel one try should do the job, and I wasted enough time and effort already on this. My final assessment: Stay away from this one.

Outdoor router for the yard
I set this up as a outdoor router to support Wi-Fi cameras. The device itself is sitting at about 10 feet off the ground and I’m seeing close to 500 feet or so as far as range to the cameras. Fairly happy with the device, we’ve only had it for two months so far but it’s working fine. It seems to be pretty stable.

Excellent customer support
I bought this product in July 2023. In July 2024, we had a very strong lightning storm that caused the antenna to fail. A lightnign bolt fell very close to it. All my security cameras were not accesible. I contacted product support and, after a very brief diagnosis questions, they sent me a new replacement at no cost. Very happy with the product and even happier with the support I received it.

I really needed this to work better than it does.
While the jury is still out on this, I'll keep trying to find a use for it. But as an access point or range extender, it really doesn't do anything special at all.I've been in IT in various roles from desktop support, networks, application development, and project management for close to 40 years. That is to say most installs are easy for me, some are challenging, and some really tick me off. This is one that ticket me off. The first three times I locked the device up and had to factory reset it and start over. I finally got it to setup somehow ( still not sure which god I was praying to when it worked ). I set it up as an Access Point and set it up inside against a window. That will degrade the service some, but it didn't improve reception at the door to my shop 50' away.Secondly, as an AP in today's security concisous age, it's really lacking on features. No support for multiple ssid's or vlan's.I'm hesitant to buy a second one of these to setup in bridge mode because that means I'll have to purchase another regular AP for my shop that this feeds to.I'm just not really feeling positive about the results so far. If things get better, I'll update this but for now, I think this is going on the shelf.

A pretty good outdoor boost
Having install this WAVLINK Outdoor WiFi Range Extender AC600 outside, about 150ft from an indoor Xfinity wifi router/modem, it provided a useful level of wifi throughput local to the extender. In this case it was operating as a repeater onto a distinct SSID. Not fantastically fast, but likely that is more a matter of having its source signal penetrate through the main building, as well as the distance -- but it was more than fast enough for casual wifi browsing, Youtube videos, etc. Perhaps more importantly, the unit reliably maintains its backhaul connection to the main router without having to be constantly tinkered with or reset.
