I like this Sunnytech Solar power Water pump kit
I like this Sunnytech Solar power Water pump kit. The Solar panel doesn't have the water landing on it, so it stays clean and efficient. The fountain was too tall and the wind kept blowing the spray out of my bird bath, so it was losing a lot of water and by putting a finer spray higher, more would evaporate, so I drilled the holes of one of the 3 tops with a 1/16" drill. which was easy and seems to be about perfect. The 8 fountain streams are a slight bit thicker and don't go as high, with the dual advantages that the returning streams don't get blown out of the bath and the sound is a little more pleasant and substantial.I tried a "Solar Power Bird Bath Fountain,SOONHUA Solar Panel Water Floating Fountain Pump Kit for Bird Bath,Fish Tank,Small Pond,Garden Decoration" which cost about 4 bucks more, but the little floating solar panel with a fountain in the middle blew to the edge of the bird bath so the returning fountain water often blew out of the bath, which would empty my bird bath in not much time. I returned it and willl buy two more of these.BTW, the solar panel for this is small, about 4" square and would be easy to mount, near the bird bath. I just put mine on the top of the fence which is behind the bird bath. When the sun comes out the fountain starts. When I put my shadow on it and when the sun gets blocked by any shadow or when the sun goes down, it sleeps. It's new for me, but my guess is that by oxygenating the water constantly, the bath won't get as funky. We'll see!In the 2nd pic, if you look carefully you'll see the small solar panel on top of the fence.

Using it for alternate fountain pump
The media could not be loaded. This is a review for Sunnytech brand solar water pump. I had originally purchased this pump for a birdbath but had yet to use it (I already had the floating type with no cord). BUT I just purchased a birdbath fountain that required an outdoor plug- and sadly I don't have any. I thought- maybe I could hook this pump up to the fountain- just needed to be attached to the tube it came with. Wow! It worked! Has a very long cord that goes up my patio pole and up onto my patio overhang for the sun. I even had to wrap up a little extra cord. Lots of zip ties were used- if I had any criticisms so far about the pump it would be there are no holes or brackets on the solar panel to attach it to anything. You'll either have to glue or like me zip tie the cord to hopefully hold the panel in place- but it's working great!

Suction essentially nonexistent
Works well but only when sun on solar panel because it doesn't have a battery backup. I knew that when I purchased so not really a concern. I would give it a 5 star rating except that the suction is essentially nonexistent. I had to anchor it with a heavy piece of flexible plastic and rocks on the sides. My old one was the same. It's good that the filter comes out so easy to clean.

Worked Okay (After Modifications) Until it Died After 3 Months
It shoots water straight in the air, so the water falls back on itself, and squirts far too high for my purpose. I widened the holes at an angle with a safety pin, so the streams spread out more evenly and not as high. As mentioned in other reviews, it only works in bright, direct sunlight. Any shadows, cloudiness or even heavy haze will make it sputter or stop. After my modification to the spray head I was fairly satisfied, though, until it stopped working completely after 3 months of light use, and without ever being run dry. I don't know if it's the pump or the solar panel. Since it's now beyond the return window, I'd call this a complete fail and would recommend avoiding this product.

Works great as a fountain pump!
We love this little pump! It works great. We did not want to run electricity out to our well house so we found this and decided to try it as a pump and it works great! The solar panel doesn't have a mount that is the only downside but for $12 I cannot complain! Still worth five stars. I live in Arizona and it lasted all summer. When it gets clogged with algae I simply take the hose and blast it in both directions and it works again! I've even let the fountain go dry and heard the pump whining for hours on end came home filled it up with water and it worked again lol this thing is indestructible

Nice fountain but needs a LOT of sunlight
This is a small fountain that is powered by a small solar panel. It only works when the sun is shining directly on the solar panel. A shadow or a passing cloud will cause the fountain to stop working. The solar panel does not charge a battery, like with a solar light, so it will only work when sunlight is hitting the solar panel. The panel has a 9 foot wire which allows you to position it away from the fountain. It works nicely with a strong 12-18 inch fountain of water, with full sun on the solar panel. With less sun, the fountain is weaker and just spurts a bit..(I have this in a shallow bird bath with a diameter of about 14 inches and about 3 " deep.) Birds are very attracted to it and like to play under the spray. The pump is rather small - it will pit in the palm of your hand. It comes with 3 different spray heads that sort of snap on and two extenders which allow you to raise the head above the water. It has a suction cup on the bottom that holds it in place. The fountain has a removable "screen) that allows it to be cleaned out - little leaves and such get sucked into it and clog it up from time to time, but the screen pulls off and is easy to clean. It's a very light duty fountain. Not awful if used in direct sunlight. This would work best in an area that gets direct sunlight most of the day.
