Great budget electric lock
Sturdy and better quality than many similar units on Amazon. Also I love the integrated contacts (one for lock status and one for door position) This eliminates the time and material involved in installing a separate set of door contacts (to send door position status back to access controller) and the lock position contacts are useful for monitoring the lock operation, if for some reason it isnt in the intended state these contacts can be used to signal that there is an issue with the lock. One helpful hint, the lock must be perfectly aligned with the strike plate in order for it to work properly, there is a magnetic reed switch that is triggered by the strike plate and if these are not aligned during installation the lock will not function. This is not very clear in the instructions, and if you simply connect 12VDC to the lock without the plate in place the lock wont function and could easily be mistaken for a faulty product. This is not the case however, as soon as the plate is aligned in the right position the lock will open as close as it should. This function was not very clear in the instructions and it took me a bit of testing to figure out what was going on.No complaints really, other than the scant documentation

Works great!
I took this out of the box, wired it up and it worked exactly as expected. I have used it for a couple months now and I have had no problems with it.

Incredibly strong
I installed this lock on the sliding doors of my step van. It's very easy to wire if you know the basics. The extension/retraction force is a bit weak and it sometimes fails to latch if it's not perfectly lined up. Just make sure to measure carefully if you're mounting to any surface that experiences movement or vibrations. That being said, my van was recently crashed into while it was parked. The impact totaled the other car, launched everything inside my van, and pushed the vehicle forward 5ft+. The passenger door (the one with the deadbolt) was pushed back from the impact, but instead of breaking, the deadbolt actually shredded the inside of the door. And, after some prying, it still works! Maybe if my van fell off a cliff, the deadbolt might bend a little and I'd have to get a new one. So just be aware that wherever you're using this deadbolt, it will probably be the last thing to break.

Works, but instructions (even in english) are not correct
Thank goodness for the other reviewer! Apparently, english instructions were posted following complaints. The instructions that come with the device are not in english. However, the instructions posted here are wrong. The instructions suggests that that the switch to open the lock should be connected in series with the power (red) line and that the purple wire is only used for 24v operation. However, this really doesn't make sense - you have to have power always on to the lock. As was pointed out in the other review, the purple line is used to trigger an unlock (ground the purple line). I would never have guessed this without the other review. The lock also draws more than 140ma to pull - the 140ma is steady state.

Great idea, works well
Great idea, works well. But needs a manual with clear English descriptions for each wire. Had to resolder 2 wires that fell off (can't be sure its not my fault) and had to reverse engineer the ckt board to figure out it has a nc and na set of 3 wires for the magnetic door position sensor and another 3 for the lock position. Both sets are very useful for alarm wiring. Loses only 1 star due to lack of english instructions as i was able to reverse engineer this. Looses 1 more star because the timer implementation is not well thought out. If you time the open switch to hold the plunger up (allows door to open) say lto 6 seconds then it also times the needing to hold the door closed for 6 seconds before it lets the plunger down to lock the door. This latter should be instantaneous always. Is necessitating i set to zero seconds delay and design a timer that holds the unlock button (purple grounded) for some time as my button installation is too far from the door to manually hold while opening it). Magnetic sensor is very nice to help it know when door is closed and in place to release the plunger.Wires are as follows:Red +12vBlack GNDWhite plunger detection commonYellow plunger detection normally openBlue plunger detection normally closedGray magnetic door closed detection commonOrange magnetic door closed detection normally closedGreen magnetic door closed detection normally openPurple - ground through switch to pull plunger.Plunger is down (locking door) whenever there is no power (fail safe - so make sure in afire there is another door that will open) or when the door is closed and the purple is not grounded (again as a function of the timer elapsing after ungrounding the purple)

Manual is so poor for the installation
Manual is so poor for the installation. Not enough for installation instruction. This is working for the people know electric. I didn't know how to install with this manual. I had to ask someone to know the electric knowledge. A lot of time wasted.
