Knife will last forever
This knife will literally last several lifetimes if taken care of even somewhat decently. The thing is a beast of a knife and super tough, I have no worries about this knife getting messed up because it’s just built to withstand a bomb. Handle scales are a little thin and not great but they work okay. Super thick blade so not crazy slicey but still sharper than you might expect. Coating is near impossible to get off so that’s good. Light stopping gets it sharp again. Sheath is simple, tough and effective. It is expensive but your great grandchildren can pass this onto their kids too. Zombie apocalypse knife right here. Top notch beast for survival.

Serious Knife
This is a serious knife. It is the middle sized Falkniven knife. Smaller than the A1x and larger than the F1x. It has a full tang and is heavy in the hand. The black coating is permanent and protects the high carbon steel from rust. My only complaint is the sheath that I had to watch a YouTube video to understand how to free the knife from its plastic cage.

The S1 on steroids
I recently purchased the S1b ("Pre-Amazon") which has an increased weight and thickness even over the S1pro. While some may complain as to the increased overall weight and the "wasted weight in the handle" this gives the knife considerable balance and heft, allowing the knife to do even more of the work. While the original S1 Forest Knife has always been for me an excellent overall compromise in size and function, there are many who debate it being on the fence between a bushcraft knife and a survival knife, and tending to fall short for most when "combat" aspects are thrown into the survival mix. Without laboring that fallacy overall, I think it safe to say the S1x clearly meets the criteria for all of the above, sliding more toward the continuum of survival/combat. The thickness of this blade is close to if not the same as the A2 (which I also own). Many bushcrafters would likely say this compromises many finer utilitarian tasks which is likely true, though the convex grind compensates greatly allowing the blade to perform more efficiently over a blade of this thickness that is not convex. Removable handle slabs with slightly raised tang allows for battening w/o damage to handle material (not true for the Pro which still has fully enclosed handle and a welded guard already demonstrated by YouTubers to fail on repeated impact. thermeren handle will also tear on standard versions if hard wood ) as well as providing future handle options should one wish to upgrade their handle and not buy a whole new knife. In summary, I will never forsake my S1 standard as an all around ubiquitous performer; if my S1 is my 9mm for everyday use, the S1x is the 357 Python for those unpredictable extremes.

Totally awesome so far
Haven't had this knife long, but so far it's amazing. The side belt loops make it easy to customize the sheath; I added a ferrocerium rod loop with some scrap leather. Before buying you should know, the handle is thinner. This is on purpose, designed to be used with gloves, and it works well in that way. That being said, I think the handle could still stand to be a bit thicker, so I may make some liners. However, I'll have to keep in mind the sheath, which will only accommodate a little bit more width. Another option is to replace the sheath, so I can make the handle as thick as I like; I will have to see how things pan out. I will most likely experiment with a few options. But yeah, this thing is a beast. I'm not normally a fan of coatings, but this one has held up perfectly so far. This is my first fallkniven. I did a lot of research before deciding upon this model, and so far I'm 100% satisfied. The fit and finish is flawless, the steel is amazing, and the coating is tougher than nails.
