The good: terrific deep bass tone with no mid scoop; no hum from RF interference.The bad: Wow it's bright for a bass mic, but maybe you dig that. Better to cut than boost the highs certainly.The ugly, and I mean UGLY: The whole clip attachment is a total disaster. It's made of plastic, including the 5/8" threads. You can't separate the XLR from the mount and they are close together so some mic stands may be a problem. The plastic threads are so easy to strip and the 3/8-5/8" adapter they include isn't nearly as deep as the hole, so if you use it, your stand can easily destroy the threads as you tighten it. The whole clip attachment is vastly too fragile for live use.The only remedy is to have a dedicated 5/8" mic stand and NEVER remove the mic from it. You will need gobs of tape to stop the challenged from "helping" you pack up. You should probably also pack a spare.This mic is excellent on bass cab and can be EQ'd into a good kick sound, but if you want a pre-EQ'd can't-miss kick sound go with the e602 or beta52. For bass cab and other low instruments this can work very well studio or live.

Excelente producto, todo llego super bien y rápido, muy buena inversión, lo probé en mi cajón y el bombo de mi batería, muy bien pouch, excelente recepción de graves, recomendado 100%...Solo queda pendiente probarlo en un bajo, pero se que no me va ha decepcionar..

Excellent sound for a budget low frequncy microphone. Sturdily built and has performed admirably with a bass amp and inside a bass drum.

Awesome for bass cabinet. I have mic'd Rumble 200 watt 15" and 10" speakers in my studio and the results are fantastic. Well worth the price, highly recommend this mic for bass cabs.

Excellent! AKG quality

I am the sound tech for my church, which is currently mobile/portable, meaning we set up and break down every week. I use the P4 as part of the Session 1 set, and overall it's a fantastic mic as far as sound is concerned. Doesn't take too much EQ to sound really nice. The problem is, the mic stand adapter (which is not removable or replaceable) has plastic threads. After 2 years of setting up week after week, I have close to no engagement with the mic stand. The solution? I super glued a 5/8 male to 3/8 female adapter in there, and use a 5/8 female to 3/8 male adapter on the stand. If you get this mic you may want to save the trouble and get the adapters now.

This is a sturdy mic! I use it for miking the kick drum at live events. It sounds great. It's got a solid look and feel. How did they get the mesh to look so perfect? Looks wise it's an engineering masterpiece. I would love to hear how it compares to an AKG D112. It's half the price of course.

I bought this to record my 18” Tama imperial star bass drum at home and I carry it to mount it on 16” floor tom in my live concerts replacing that sm58 on it….It delivers smoothly what you want from a bass mic. Ich benutze das Mikrofon zur Verstärkung eines Hohner Basso. Selbst die tiefste Frequenz (ca. 65 Hz) wird prima übertragen. Der Ton hat volles Volumen, also nicht blechern, sondern schön "bassig". Ich habe das Mikro ca. 10 cm vom Verdeck im oberen Drittel, also bei den tiefen Tönen positioniert. Nach den Proben endlich keinen Muskelkater mehr im linken Arm. Das Geld hat sich voll gelohnt, das Mikro ist empfehlenswert.

The frequency range is quite wide so can be used as a general low frequency instrument mic. It has good internal gain and only needs 6-9db preamp to bring it to parity for a kick. Its pickup range is less than 1m which means it's not picking up everything else going on around. The sound is clear and undistorted with very little noise - perfect! The sound is pretty true though the EQ rolls off at around 1000khz (as you'd expect). For most live applications this is a good choice for kicks or bass amps. It's ok for recording demo tracks.
