Base layer done right.
This is my go-to base layer below 50 degrees F. Super comfortable and in excellent conditions after many washings. I like the neck line and the vented pits. It’s not too hot under a winter jersey and some days I wear just this under a light jacket. When it’s really cold this goes under layers well. Honestly, I’ve even turned to it for alpine skiing as well.

Nice balance between warm, tight fitting, and breathability
Cozy -- This may be an odd adjective to describe cycling kit, but this is a great inner shirt. This inner shirt has a nice balance between warm, tight fitting, and breathability. It does not rotate under another jersey; It stays put snug to the body.

A bit pricy but warm base layer from reliable brand
I purchased several baselayers to get ready for fall/winter cycling. This was one of the base layers I wanted to try, since I like their famous winter jacket. The baselayer looks thin, but warm, and seems moderately durable (it's too early to tell). I am 5'10'' (178cm) and around 157lb (71kg), and wear Castelli's Medium winter jacket, and found medium size fits me well - tight but not too tight. As I like tight fit for cycling, I might try Small in the future. Among baselayers from reputable brands, this one is on the cheaper side, and I am happy with it so far. So far I wore it only when the temperature was 60F (15C). Let's see how warm it is when the temperature goes lower.

Warm, Comfortable Base Layer - Be Sure to Size Up
Very happy with the Castelli Flanders Base Layer. I use is regularly on 30 - 40 F rides and it's warm and wicks the sweat away keeping comfortable the entire ride. Because it's Castelli, be sure to size up. I normally wear a large, but always get an X-large when buying a Castelli product.

Warm Base Layer
Close-fitting. I bought a Medium and I’m 5’9” and 145 lbs. Fits tight enough that you can pull a long sleeve jersey over it without it bunching up. Warm in 40 degree weather with just a jersey over it.
