Whoa! This is a B.I.G. piece of luggage!
There is a relative paucity of reviews on this suitcase. If you’re including Tumi in your search for a large checked bag, then you’ve already accepted the premium you’re going to pay for the name — so we’ll dispense with the “value proposition” argument. You buy Tumi or other higher-end brands because travel is likely a big part of your life, whether professional or personal and justification for the relative expense happened long ago.I read one review that seemed to exaggerate the size of this Tumi model. Sadly, I was wrong in underestimating the veracity of that review — this is a HUGE piece of luggage. I’m a “Big Guy” at 6’3” and 280 pounds. If I say something is “big,” you’s best believe it! Packing this case to stay UNDER 70-pounds is going to be difficult. It’s a good 12+ inches taller than my Alpha 3 Extended checked bag, but it looks and feels even bigger. You could easily fit an adult human female into this bag with room to spare. The four-wheel roller action is exceptionally smooth. The compartments and features are very well thought out and useful. There is NO superflouos “form over function” design in this model. It is exceptionally well built, well designed, and well executed — but it is, to all practical extent, unusable. If you have your own jet, or want a single piece of luggage to put in your trunk on a cross-country drive, then this is your no-compromise option. If, however, you want something that will conform to standard international Business Class commercial travel, you’re going to have a real problem keeping this bag under the typical US-based 70-pound weight limit — and you will NEVER be able to keep it under the international 50-pound limit, unless you fill it with a half-dozen King Sized Goose Down pillows (and yes, it’ll hold 6 of them, with room left over for the bed ;-)

Beware of weight restrictions
I’ve owned tumi bags for over 10 years. They are exceptionally well made. The issue with the lager extended stay bag is that you will likely be unable to meet the 50 lb weight restriction on domestic flights if you fill the bag. There was no mention of this by the TUMI salesperson.

Exceptional quality at an exorbitant price
Let’s deal with the elephant in the room: the $1300 price tag. Does this buy you a suitcase of exceptional quality? Yes. Are you paying a ~2-3x premium for the Tumi name? Yes. I cannot help you with the decision of trying to justify the price. All I can do is tell you that you are getting a suitcase of the highest quality and a warranty that’s there for you when things go wrong. If the majority of your flying is private, read no further. If you fly commercial, be aware that this suitcase, with even a light load, will weigh over 50 pounds and can easily exceed 70 pounds, likely incurring overweight baggage fees, even with elite status and/or first class tickets. If you can afford this suitcase, you may not care about the fees.Nevertheless, the point I am trying to stress is that there is a reason why this is called “Worldwide”. Carefully study the dimensions and check this out at a Tumi boutique if possible, because you may be able to get by with the “extended trip” model.

Built strong
I don’t own a Tumi but I’ve worked for the airlines and tossed many Tumi around, and boy they can take a beating. The noise you hear beneath ur feet before boarding and while deplaning, is your bags being tossed. And many times they fall off the belt loader, 10 ft high. I strongly recommend, I know I’ll be buying a set.

Fake Reviews!
Neither of the other reviews apply to the Alpha 3 Worldwide Trip bag. As you can see they were both written years before the first date of availability on Amazon. January 2019.
