Twisty and addictive thriller
"The Boyfriend" by Freida McFadden is an addictive and twisty psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the last page. The story has dual POV (Sydney and Tom) and dual timelines (present and past) which intersect perfectly in the course of the novel. The best thing about any psychological thriller is how unpredictable it can be and on this ground, 'The Boyfriend' scores a perfect ten on ten. The novel needs to be read for the big jaw dropping twist at the end.Freida's writing is razor-sharp, with a deep understanding of the human psyche. The characters are complex and multi-dimensional. I loved how the author has tried to show criminal psychology in the course of the novel. The plot is perfectly woven, with enough twists and turns until the very end.We are going with 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complex characters and twisty plots, "The Boyfriend" is a must-read.

Plus points: Praiseworthy Suspense, A Quick Leisure Read!!
So, against my better judgment, I jumped on the bandwagon and read this book.I must say that I am extremely impressed with who turned out to be the culprit in this book, since I must confess that I definitely did not see it coming at all. Hats off to the person who decided the title of this book!! Last few chapters of this book are deserving of all the praise people are giving this book and yes, it does give you a 1% "YOU" vibe, so that's a plus, right? But then, I am equally devastated by the lame characterization of Sydney. Page after page filled about her inspecting red flags but overlooking some serious similarities with Bonnie's situations. Seriously, all the pages focused on her lameness just for the sake of filling the book, until it reaches those last few chapters. Hence, feel that the plot deserves 1 star, the big major reveal at the end well deserved 2 stars, and sadly, that is all I can spare.Do recommend this book, though, to readers looking for a quick leisure read during commute and stuff!!

The Ending
Let me start with the cover, absolutely captivating colours used the innocence of white with the lethal red. I took one look at it, it had my attention. I don't normally pay so much attention to covers. One of my favourite genres, I have heard so much about Ms. Mcfadden, finally I can say she lives upto all the hype in the psychological thriller world and so much more. From the very beginning, I found myself engrossed in the world of Sydney and Tom. The story alternates between two timelines, each one as gripping as the other. The timelines flawlessly merge at the end.I couldn't believe when my every guess, turned incorrect and what a fantastic twist the author left in the end. Ms. Mcfadden's style is inspiring not only because she keeps you at the edge of the seat, also because she has laced humour into a psychological thriller. Such a rare and enjoyable combination. So much to take back from her finesse. If you enjoy this genre, don't miss this one at all. I cannot wait to read all her other books.

Didn't see it!
- suspense in the last part of the book is great.- I think it could have had a shorter middle part though as it slows down the pace.
