An affordable small spa heater that works
I built a DIY hot tub out of 150 gallon stock tank, with ~85 gallons of water when it's full. Well, I'd originally intended the tub as a cold plunge, but the allure of making it a 2-in-1 was too great. I tried a heater from another company, and wasn't able to ever get the thing to turn on, which I assume was due to the pressure switch not receiving adequate flow. I had it plumbed in kind of a weird way: from the pump, I had a 3-way valve that diverted either to the chiller branch or the heater branch, then a second 3-way valve from the outputs of the heater/chiller back into the filtration system and then into the tub. I suspect that the resistance from this complicated system was a bit too much for the pressure switch in the heater, which is why I never got it to work. After returning my old heater, I got this one and plumbed it inline right after the pump, and lo and behold, it worked! I put it on a 30A GFCI breaker (which is way overkill for the ~13A this thing would pull), with two 110V legs to give it to the 220V it needs. With the small quantity of water in my tub and heavy insulation I added to the cavity that holds the tank, I can get it from ~70F to ~103F within 2-3 hours, and it has no trouble staying there in outside temperatures of ~40F.PROS: The case is made out of metal and the little unit feels quite sturdy as a result. The controls are dead-simple, just a knob to change it from off to its maximum of 40C (~104F). I really appreciate the addition of a light that shows when it's working; the old heater didn't have that. It came with a few PVC fittings, including two 1.5" ID unions that I was able to plumb into my system without much trouble.CONS: I wish it got hotter! Also, like a lot of spa heaters the PVC fitting are some custom size/threading, so if you solvent-weld them incorrectly you're kind of SOL, so be careful. In summary, I had no issues getting it to work, and I love having a hot tub. For the price, it's a great little unit.

Didn't work right out of box\Update!!!
Purchased this product in may 2023 and had it hooked up 30 days later. Electrician wired it to a 220 volt GFCI breaker and it instantly blew the breaker. Checking all the wiring, which is simplistic, everything was fine. Determined a dead short internally. Unfortunately I was one day late of return policy and now have to deal with manufacturer. This is a very non complicated product and somehow still screwed it up. Looking like I just ate the $180.00 price tag. UPDATE!!! EVEN THOUGH THE PRODUCT WAS DEFECTIVE THE MANUFACTURER RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AND EVEN THOUGH AMAZON 30DAYS EXPIRED THEY CREDITED MY ACCOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS PROMPT, POLITE, AND CONSIDERATE WHICH WE ALL CAN APPRECIATE

Great little heater!
This heater very easily keeps up with our 5000 gal. pool. (northern Indiana).I have a timer that allows the pump to run 12 hours a day, and that gives the heater enough time to do its job, and automatically kicks on and off as the pump does, due to its internal flow sensor. Our first heater developed an issue with the thermostat, so I informed Amazon and they referred me to the manufacturer, who soon contacted me.Ashley was very helpful, responsive, and effective. With a couple interactions via email, they were soon sending me a new one. I would highly recommend this small and mighty heater, and also this company.Note: This heater was very easy to install; the original ones did not come with gaskets but I believe the newer ones do now.

Fittings do not work for 1.5" or 2" PVC pipe
I'm not sure of functionality yet, as I can't connect it to my plumbing. It says it comes with 1.5" and 2" tail nuts. If it does, I only got 1.5", and the connection is too slopy for glue and primer to hold. I did get 4 tail nut pieces in the box, but they're all the same size. I figured I'd try doing an over fit with 2" fitting over the tail nut, but that will not work. So there is no way to make this work with 1.5" or 2" PVC. I did order 1.5" split unions and tail nuts, but I don't like that I'll have to reduce the 2" plumbing to make this work. That's if it even will. It will all depend on if the 1.5" split nuts will properly seal on the flare end over the heating element. Even if it does work, this item definitely does not work as advertised, or come with the option of fittings in the description.*UPDATE*After ordering new split unions and tail nuts from a spa parts dealer online I was able to get it connected and working. Fortunately these tail nuts are 1.5" inside diameter, and 2" outside, so I didn't need to reduce my plumbing further than what the heater tube diameter is. I did have to file out the split nut union flare as it was not the correct diameter for the heater tube, however removing material is always easier than adding material, especially in a pressure situation. It would be nice if the manufacturer sent a set of tail nuts with the unit so one is metric and one is standard. Could easily have the ID and OD of 2 different sizes on each tail nut. In the description it says it comes with 2 different sizes (4 tail nuts total) but all 4 of mine where the same size. It took a little work, and not as plug and play as the description says, but it's working great and doing what I need it to now.

Very Happy with Product
I hooked this up to my GFCI hot tub breaker and decommissioned our hot tub for the summer. It said max gallons was around 500 so I was hesitant because we have a 1200 gallon pool, but wow! It heated the pool up to 30 degrees c no problem. At first I was worried it might be defective because hours went by and I couldn’t feel a change, but I left it all day and actually had to turn it down because it was getting too warm for our pool. Very pleased with product.
