Pretty good
This tone and probe is pretty awesome. I use it quite a bit as my job as an IT/phone admin. This, working in symphony with a banjo and a lineman's test set allows me to troubleshoot just about any phone circuit problem that's been thrown at me. This toner is very strong and the wand hasn't given me any grief at all.The ABN clips are a really nice thing to have. The only thing I would do differently if I were to add features to this is make the plastic thicker. It seems like I may end up breaking it someday, but it hasn't yet. Its definitely not fragile, but I also wouldn't want to drop it off of a ladder onto a tile floor.

Works like charm
I had a Greenlee 200 EP-G Probe that had the battery clip break off recently. In my line of work, the Tone Probe is a crucial tool in my line of work, so I was happy to find one at a reasonable price on Amazon. I took the plunge and within a week I had my replacement. Verified it was the same model probe that I had used and took her for a test drive. Works like a charm. Never leave my office without it. This thing saved my bacon so many times I can hardly count. It's definitely made my job a lot easier.

Great product that works as designed
Great product that works as designed. Use this nearly daily troubleshooting witing in the fire alarm and structured cabling fields. Had a few bumps and bruises along the way, but still works strong. The small LED light in the wand is very handy in darker spots such as patch panels.Just make sure to carry a spare battery for the tone generator, as the switch can sometimes get turned in in pouch and render it inoperable at a bad time.

Got for my own use and have used in the field.with different contractors this is why I got because I know it does the job well.

Led me down a wrong path.
The product may work in certain situations. But not mine.I have an existing home with Cat-5 cables, coax cables, security wiring, security video and phone lines.I have been sending a WI-FI signal through two stucco walls from the main house to a attached guest house. Internet is OK but when I added a new DVD player with built in Wi-Fi I could not get a reliable connection to stream Amazon instant videos and such.Just hardwire it, right? In a wall plate behind my TV in the guest house I found two coax cables, a phone line, and a cat-5 cable. (What luck?) One coax was in use for the Dish connection. The need was simple. I needed to trace a cat-5 cable from the guest house to the main house. (So I placed my order for Greenlee 701K-G/6A.)Used the tester. Connect the signal generator as described in the manual to one endof the cat-5 in the guest house.Had a bit of trouble due to all the AC hum this unit picked up. But after some testing I traced a nice strong signal in a cat-5 cable in the main house. (Again, what luck.)Crimped on a couple of 8 pin RJ45s and hooked everything up.Long story short. I made many attempts testing, re-crimping etc. I could never getany connection. The Greenlee 701K-G/6A somehow was getting a strong signal to only one wire in the main house. But it was not the same wire as I was sending the signal on in the guest house.Ultimately, as I have 60 more wires to trace for various reasons I returned the Greenlee unit and I bought a Fluke MicroSanner2. This unit immediately showed that the coax cables were 135' long and the cat-5 cable was only 35' long. Yes the coax cables were going from the guest house to the main house but the cat-5 was not. Although for a reason I have yet to discover the Greenlee gave me a real strong signal between two sets of cat-5 cables that were not really connected. (Which caused a lot of needless work.)I won't go into all the details here but I connected an Actiontec Ethernet to Coax set and used the spare coax cable. (Bought here at Amazon.) In 10 minutes I had a nice strong internet connection directly to my DVD player. I also connected a second router in the guest house and have, of course, a killer Wi-Fi connection to everything that roams around in the guest house.I am an electronics engineer and have used these types of instruments before. Low-cost units for me have either worked for the job at hand or not worked. But never given me a false signal between two sets of unconnected cables.I have to thank Amazon for allowing me to return this unit. A unit that just didn't meet my needs.

Great. Always ground black wire when toning network cable
This is one of the best toner/probe kits. I have this and a Triplett Fox and Hound. Theyre more or less equal. The Greenlees streignth is the probe. Its super accurate, loud and great at filtering 66hz noise. My only thing is you must always ground the black wire when toning cat5e/cat6 network cable. There are alot of dirt cheap toner/probe kits below $25 now. Ive used them and theyre almost all either weak, staticy, inconsisstant, or blast crossralk everywhere. They cant hold a candle to this. This is a percise tool and the probe will find the right wire clearly, loudly, and without hardly any crossralk. You know the wire with tone is rhe right wire with this. Thats why its priced so much higher. Its a percise professional tool and worth the price.Ps you will see alot of cheap noname knockoffs of this kit on amazon and ebay. DO NOT BUY THEM! i tried one and it was nothing but screeching from the probe.
