Good for its value
You get what you pay for. These days 720p isn’t exactly top tier, but I bought it for school work and it’s perfect for that.

died 8 months later
Update 9/24/2020 - died today - system freezes after one minute and goes to black screen. HP product support unable to help, I tried their online chat and they are unable to help. I put in my serial# and product code to no avail. super depressed - this plus covid plus wildfires - HP you really let me down.Arrived today (1/8/2020) I ordered it after much research and perusal of reviews. It arrived and the first thought out of the box "huh, PLASTIC" says it has a plastic frame so it feels cheap. Opened it up and it is dead, needed to be charged so I waited 4 hours while it charged. Fully charged it searched for updates and downloaded for over 10 minutes. Next was quick and easy, loaded my google/chrome profile from my gmail sign in, and then it went black - no warning and stayed black while I tried everything to figure out why it was not turning on. Finally came back on. Then I noticed as it started to get super hot that THERE ARE NO VENTS. Well that explains the heat. On the plus side the keyboard is super. Still I am wondering if this was a bad purchase and knowing I have a short window to return it I am holding onto the boxes and packaging it came in.Update Day 3: no more overheating, I am chalking it up to setup overload. This a a huge improvement of my awesome first chromebook 5 years ago. This one debuted June 2019 and currently Google has the OS set to expire summer of 2026 which for $210 is a great deal. I have 6-7 tabs running at anyone time without a slow down. A True HD picture. Super fast page load and a nice size screen. PLUS no worry about viruses - Priceless. LIG.Day 8: Still going good. I will note the the battery life is 5 hours with the light on full bright. No more over heating.

My first Chromebook
My first Chromebook and I am quite pleased with the overall experience and what I can achieve with itLIKE1. It’s fast - considering the processor or it’s Geekbench 5 score:)2. The sound quality is decent (the B&O brand may cost more than the entire product)3. Keyboard and the typing experience are easy to get used to4. Connection Ports - WOW with 2x USB A, 2x USB C & MicroSD that would be like a Swiss Army Knife usable anytime anywhere.5. Battery charges quickly, lasts quite long & quiet since it does not have a fan.DISLIKE1. The screen - viewing angle shift and display colour left a lot to be desired2. Trackpad - Scrolling is fine but clicking is seriously too firm3. 32GB storage seriously? - Considering laptops with spinning hard drive back in Y2K have bigger storage (but I assume Chromebook user may choose to use external drive or cloud storage for proper work)3. It gets quite Warm (only at the bottom) even when running small taskWell considering I purchased the Chromebook and delivered it 3/4 around the earth + Tax for USD$201 is quite a marvellous feat (and no where close to that price can I find it here in my country). Also the product is supported by Google until June 2026 now that is quite generous for the product of this price.Be assured that the Chromebook will work with NTFS, FAT and all your normal peripherals by just plug and play (even my mouse with front & back button works just fine). Conclusion: This Chromebook would make a perfect spare laptop at home or for once in a while presentation on external display as it looks like it could take some beating when compared to the more expensive Aluminium laptops.

Just stopped working after 2 years.
So bought this for my son to watch Netflix, Hulu and prime. It was great. It sat on his desk for two years and it was awesome, he’d watch his movies on it when he had free time. One day he went to watch it and said it wouldn’t turn on. So I went to see what was wrong thinking it was a dead battery only to see it was plugged in. Told him to give it a minute, after 20-30 mins I tried to turn it on and nothing but black screen. Light on side says it’s charging but screen won’t do anything. For something that has been stationary and handled with care it should have lasted longer than two years. He only gets 2 hours max of screen time a day. Sucks. In the market for a new one if this can’t be fixed for a reasonable amount of money.

Versatile and Lite
This is a cute little laptop, 14" diagonal, just wide-screeny enough not to feel tiny but doesn't feel gigantic either. I have the white version; it looks like someone 3D printed this thing and didn't color it in. That stuff doesn't matter. Here are some things I've noticed. I will add more as I get more use out of this thing.1. Super lite. This is the main reason I got a Chromebook. I needed something that started quickly, was light, easy, and fast. I have a different laptop for more heavy lifting and processing. This works great for what I want: easy browsing and blogging abilities. It doesn't have any junk on it, no antivirals (not needed), extraneous programs, etc, etc. If you're wanting something that can boot up MS Office or otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.2. It's a bit warm. I'm sure I'll appreciate this more in the more wintry months. Even within minutes of starting up, the bottom of this thing is... cozy. It hasn't heated up MORE, but it's definitely got some heat.3. The keys on the keyboard is a little wide as far as spacing. I'll get used to it.4. Video quality isn't great. If you plan to use this as your video-watching device, I'd go for something else. Things don't look like great HD quality.5. Sound is pretty good without external speakers. It won't get super loud but the quality itself is fine.6. Had some issue with the screen blinking off and on on certain websites. Haven't gotten to the root of this yet so I won't blame the Chromebook itself but maybe something to do with the OS.Overall, 4 stars for giving me what I need.
