Excellent product
I buy a lot of fish for my dogs. They love canned salmon but it's expensive. So I started buying them mackerel. I realized several orders later that the canned mackerel I was buying was in brine. OOPS! Salt is not good for dogs. So I found this product. I tasted it and the taste is superior to the brined fish. And my dogs love this and eat it right up. It's great for their skin and coat and those omega fish oils in the mackerel are good for all kinds of things. But I feel that this is superior to other canned mackerel products and will definitely keep buying it when it's available.

Great fish, great price
As much as I love salmon, and the salmon croquettes (patties, whatever) my mother used to make, they were a rare treat due to the price of canned salmon. When my children came along, I wanted to feed them the same treats; but again, the price was steep and we struggled. On a suggestion by someone I trusted, I picked up a can of Jack Mackerel as a substitute for salmon. Far cheaper, and when I prepared them the way my mother and grandmother did, every bit as delicious. My kids are long since adults, but occasionally they want some of Dad's Mackerel Patties, and have wrested the recipe from me.I cannot recommend Crown Prince too highly. This is great food at a great price.

Dogs love it
I use these to feed my dogs. They love it. I mix it with their dry food and Natural Balance can food.

Great for our dog diet supplement
We mix this with the dog food and it's a perfect supplement with the added fish oils and protein in their diet. The quality is nice. As you can see from the picture, these are full body canned mackerel with spine, skin, fins (no tail or head). The cans are filled with juice when opened (the picture shows after removing the juice). Overall we're really happy with the product.

The tin had mackerel in it, except that it seemed to be minced not whole.
I like my tinned fish to look at partially whole, not minced. I fed the entire 12 tins to my friends pigs.

Not even half full
Unlike the chicken of the sea pink salmon cans that are always fully packed with salmon, these similar sized cans of mackerel perhaps were only half full

... canned salmon of this quality is to wash it good and plenty
The secret to canned salmon of this quality is to wash it good and plenty. You will then have the flakiest fish in town and will no longer give these to your dogs. I wanted to try fish pancakes oozing in "Eat Good Fat " ghee. Butter on steroids. Also they might be good in Fish Stew with Better than bouillon Fish flavor. I go crazy with the seaweed, black tree fungus, bovine college powder etc and sherry and a tad of sirachi ????

It's what you expect: fish! No artificial ingredients
It's no more nor less than what I expected. It's fish! Surprise!Good protein at a reasonable price, with no added ingredients except a bit of salt. They could have left that off, as far as I'm concerned, but it's not unacceptably salty. Next time, I might look for a variant with higher calcium levels.
