Yes, these jars are 100% food-grade and freezer safe.

Q: Can I freeze home made ice cream in these?

I don't see why not. Should work perfectly for ice cream.

Q: What are the dimensions without the lid?

I have given all of them away filled with my homemade hand lotion, but the top of the container is the same as the container itself. It is not smaller and very easy to fill with the lotion. Hope this helps!
