The best plugs for Ford 4.6L modular engines
I've always used the recommended Autolite Double-Platinum plugs in Ford 4.6L modular engines. They provide great performance and I've never had any issues removing or installing them. Normal plugs get eaten very fast by these engines, due to their high-voltage ignition system, but double-platinums are good for 50-100K miles.Notes:> Your older Autolite Double-Plats may only be threaded half the barrel, whereas these updated versions have a fully threaded barrel to prevent plug blowouts. They do not seat deeper and will not cause piston interference issues, like many incorrectly assume. It's the same barrel length, only fully threaded and causes no issues.> Always check the gap on new plugs and regap to spec if necessary.> Before pulling plugs on 4.6L modular engines, always blow out the plug wells with compressed air to prevent any debris in the wells from falling into the combustion chamber when you pull the plugs.> With aluminum heads, always remove/install plugs with the engine cold.> Do not use anti-seize on the threads of these plugs, according to the Autolite website's documentation & installation instructions. It's not needed with these plugs, like they were on older plugs, and will affect the torque specification. I pulled these plugs from a 4.6L that were installed in 2007 with no issue or threads being crossed or yanked out...but I was very careful & slow about the removal/installation, as one should always be with aluminum heads.> Torque all plugs to spec, not by feel, to prevent plugs being blown out or threads being pulled when removed years later.> Lastly, whatever plugs you buy, always check out the manufacturer's website, as well as the vehicle's service manual, for details about proper plug removal/installation for your application to prevent issues, blowouts, crossed or pulled threads, etc.

I read that this engine can be picky about plugs and these are OEM so I went with them. Price was good, they went in well and seem to be working fine. Also replaced coil with a Motorcraft and wires with AC delco. So far, all good.

Excellent quality
Put these exact same plugs in at 100,000 miles on my Ford focus. When I hit 200,000 I bought the same ones. After 100,000 miles they were still working fair. The engine was a little rough but that 100K on them. Put the new ones in and engine is smooth.
