Not just for fishing rods--good for solar lights, too
I use these to add height to my solar light panels that aren't quite tall enough to clear the border plants in my yard. Push the rod holder into the soil, pop the solar light stake into the spiral, and voila--a riser for shortish solar lights. I can put the solar panels IN the border plantings instead of in front (ugly) of or behind (less sun). Also, the soil in my yard is rocky, and full of tree roots in some places. Jamming plastic solar light stakes into my soil is not always possible. These steel holders are tough enough and thin enough to go where the plastic stakes won't.I have some of these that have been in the yard for a couple of years now. Not a speck of rust has appeared to date.

Strong rod holders
Great rod holders, sturdy and durable. Three dollars is with it for sure, good value. The size is average compared to similar ones like it. Easy to store too, and it fishes well.

Works with slimmer rod handles
Works great, but doesn't work for larger style rod handles like single grip cork or eva. I haven't had issues with slim split grip style rod gandles

Great rod holder!!
I really love this rod holder. My favorite color is red, so I really love this color. I have two fishing rods and it holds either of them just fine. I have a Breast cancer Shakespeare rod and a Ugly Stix rod. We also use this to anchor our bait/crawfish traps to the bank without floating away. The rod holder is very sturdy. I do plan on buying about 5 more of these!! We plan on getting more traps and rods so we need to be able to hold them all. The quality of this holder is really good. I don't feel like it is going to crack or break under pressure.

Does what it says
bought to test out on a few boats. I could see mounting on an aluminum rail of a pontoon, in a oar lock for a small skiff, or my real purpose to drill some holes on the "balance barge" and be able to move it around to hold a rod. It works. It obviously will also work on the sandy beach/grass bank, but haven't got around to trying their The only bad thing about it, its heavy. So, if it hits the water its sinking like an anchor. Its designed for the bank, so I can't hold that against it. (but I had to do a quick grab already ;) )

Maybe it's for kids' rods.
I don't even know what rods they do this for. None of the 9 rods fit. Ridiculously small.

Useful for stalking the beach
I slip this in a pen slot on my hip bag while walking the beach fishing. It only takes a second to deploy, and provides a convenient place to place my rod while retying or unhooking a fish, keeping my expensive reels out of the sand.I would not use it on the beach to hold my rod with bait in the water.Works in a pinch for that purpose in the dirt, though.
