I got this for my brother to read after he got surgery since he has been wanting a dog for a while but put it off until he fully recovered. There were some complications with the surgery so he was in the ICU longer than expected. It helped keep my mom and I busy while we waited. Cute photos and tons of interesting info about each breed!

Personality traits, exercise requirements, grooming needs, etc., helped me narrow my choice to two breeds.The book is beautifully shot with dog photos that make you want one of each breed!

Wonderful pictures and summaries

This is a good coffee table book if you're thinking about getting a dog. It overviews various breeds with temperament traits & so on. It has great pictures that give you a good idea of what the dog will look like. It's organized by types of people instead of types of dogs. If you're a couch potato, you can look up what kinds of dogs might fit with your lifestyle. I would not use this book as your primary resource for choosing a breed of dog, but it is a good supplemental.

If you trust this book it will not steer you wrong. No replay value though. Simply figure out what type of person you are, what type of dog you need and turn to the page. There will be a list of ten dogs that suit your needs. Cant go wrong here.

It helped me verify my original choice of dog and turns out it was the right choice for me!
