Plot is pretty good
I had to read this book for a school project, but the books actually pretty good. It’s about this kid who’s uncle died in a car accident, but he’s pretty suspicious about it because his uncle always wore a seatbelt, so he decides to investigate but almost dies trying to figure it out. His uncle was assassinated by Yassen (pretty sure) blah blah blah he spies for the people his uncle worked for, almost dies a million times, meets his uncles killer, book ends, finds out lots of secrets yuppp.

Great book to start out the series!!
This was a great book and this is the book that got me into this series. I saw the movie first but I like the book better. In my thought if you are going to start to read this series then watch the movie first to see if you would be interested. I love how the author was descriptive when Alex was snooping around and when he was fighting. I know you will like this book and if your 13 or 14 years old because you will relate to the character like me. I'm 13 years old so i can relate to what he is thinking or doing except i am not a MI6 Agent. If i was you i would watch the video and then read, then when your done i like to think what is different or similar between the two of them. So i hope you like this book and i recommend this book to people that like action books. Thanks for reading this and remember to give it 5 stars if you like this book. And comment on my review and tell my what you think THANKS BYE!!!

Shaken AND Stirred
When fourteen year-old Alex Rider hears of his uncle's tragic death in an auto accident, he becomes immediately suspicious. Ian Rider had been a banker, a very careful man. He was also Alex's only living relative. Following up on his uncle's car, Alex discovers that the car is at a junkyard and is sporting dozens of bullet holes and blood on the seats that proves his uncle was murdered. So who killed Ian Rider and covered the act up? And why? Alex's quest for the truth introduces him to Alan Blunt, a spymaster for Great Britain's MI6 espionage agency. Caught while seeking further information, Alex is blackmailed by Blunt into becoming the youngest spy to ever work for MI6. Herod Sayles, a multi-millionaire, is giving away thousands of his newest computer, Stormbreaker, to the children of London's schools. Ian Rider was investigating the man and those machines when he was killed. If Alex doesn't agree to undertake the mission, Blunt promises that he will be sent off to an orphan's home, and that his housekeeper, Jack Starbright, will be deported back to America. Before he can adjust to getting blackmailed, Alex is sent on a three-week crash course training with SAS commandos. Yanked out of training, Alex is thrown headlong into the grinning jaws of death where he will meet a spectacular array of villains, including Mr. Grin who has had his face disfigured during a throwing knife accident in a circus, and a huge jellyfish. Anthony Horowitz is a successful writer of novels and television shows. His second Alex Rider novel, POINT BLANK, is out this year. In addition, he's written historical thrillers, THE SINISTER SECRET OF FREDERICK K. BOWER and THE DEVIL AND HIS BOY. He's also written a series of books involving the FIVE including THE DEVIL'S DOOR-KNOB, NIGHT OF THE SCORPION, and THE SILVER CITADEL. His work for television lists scripts for POIROT and MIDSOMER NIGHTS, and he has created his own television show, MURDER IN MIND. STORMBREAKER is an exciting, easy to read, and hard to put down novel. The breakneck pace of the story draws the reader on, and the simple use of the language to convey the story make it that much easier to read just one more page, and another, and another. However, the simple writing evokes full images, cast and settings. And there are twists and turns aplenty in the story. Alex is very likeable, and he's very much like James Bond must have been at that age. Not only is he quick and mildly sardonic, but he gets equipped with a cutting-edge tech GameBoy equipped with spygear, zit cream that eats through metal, and a yo-yo that doubles as a winch, serving him as well as Spider-Man's weblines. Even though the pace is driving and the descriptions are wonderful, the book could have used a little more dialogue. The dialogue that the author uses is pretty much spot-on, but more of it was needed. STORMBREAKER is an excellent read for anyone interested in action adventure novels and spy stories.

kid review
This is the first time I read the Alex Rider series. My friend recommended it to me. It is one of the best series I have ever read, because there is non stop action, never a dull moment and last but not least almost each seen is really intense. I would recommend this book to people that like action and suspense. Stormbreaker introduces us to Alex Rider. He is 14 years old. The first part of the series is about the death of Alex's Uncle, Ian Rider. The police say he died in a car accident. but when Alex goes to the car dump he discovers that he did not die in a car accident, he was shot with a machine gun through the car window! He also finds out that his uncle was not a banker he was a secret agent. The teller at the window took Alex under the bank to the offices of MI6, the secret spy agency Uncle Ian worked for. Alex was hired by the owner of the agency and his task was to complete his uncle's last mission, to go to London and find Yassen, the evil villain who wanted to become prime minister at any cost. The ending of Stormbreaker really makes me want to read the next book in the series, Point Blank.

Class Read
I teach 7th grade, and this was one of the options for literature circles. It was a hit! My students got really into it, and many continued on with the series. It was fun and exciting without being scary or gory. Definitely a win!

predictable
I started reading this book and I knew the whole plot in the fiirst five minutes. The story is ok but unoriginal and inclides many simimar features to James Bond. I have read other kid spy books and this is not the best. A better read is CHERUB but this book is still worth reading if you are into spies. The main character is not well developed and is not very interesting. I hope the story will improve.

I volunteer in a school, and my main job is to encourage children to read for pleasure, particularly boys. Many of the boys in the older classes (primary school so ten and eleven year olds) are obsessed by the Alex Rider books, of which this, Stormbreaker, is the first in the series. I decided that I should read it so that I could get to grips with the kind of thing they enjoy and meet them where they're at, rather than expecting them to start with Pride and Prejudice. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is plot and action heavy and the pace is fast. The chapters are short and punchy and there isn't a great deal of philosophy or serious emotional stuff going on here. The book starts with the assassination of Alex's uncle, the man who has been his guardian since he was a baby, and Alex copes with his loss remarkably well. The story just speeds forward onto the next action sequence and the next. It is written very much like a computer game, one problem gets solved, the next one immediately springs up, and it is generally one which requires a great deal of physical action and not a terrible amount of anything else. It was silly, and implausible, and at times, my rather more rational grown up head just wanted to shout 'no! that's rubbish!' but the part of me that just appreciates a very silly action romp shouted it down. It is a relatively quick read, which I think is also an enormous part of the appeal. I would say ten is probably the youngest I would recommend this too unless you have a particularly precocious reader on your hands. There is a lot of violence, a lot of casual death and some fairly gruesome events which may not sit well with younger readers/listeners. If you are looking for something if your child has read the Alex Rider books I would suggest trying Charlie Higson's young James Bond series which are the next level up, slightly wordier, slightly more thought provoking, but just as exciting.
