Van Der Hagen Self-Heating Shave Cream - Burst of Warmth Opens Pores and Softens Stubble, 6 oz

I wasn’t sure if this was just a gimmick but I love their shave butter so i figured it was worth a shot. I followed the directions and have used this 5 times with the same Gillette razor, It wasn’t even brand new to begin with. You can definitely feel the heat on your Skin and I’ve never had a closer shave except maybe a barber. This may be my go to creme from now on. Make sure you follow the directions and wet your face again with warm water before you shave or else it will pull and suck.Good stuff though for my world!

It’s kind of a nice gimmick. It does get pretty warm. Be careful not to put too much on. It gets much harder to shave with. Don’t be afraid to mix it with water. I bought the product twice. I’ll probably stick with the shave butter, going forward it’s a better shaving product

No cuts. Was able to cover all areas...face and neck quickly without razor burn. It's important to keep shaving areas wet. Better than the 'other' hot shave.

It is amazingly attractive. However, the product leaves a lot to be desired. Starts off as a cream which heats up. Good. However, it becomes a PASTE which, even after it is watered down, makes shaving difficult when using a multi-blade razor. Think of having to rinse a cementitious material from between the blades: without the ability to rinse it clean easily, the razor tends to glide over the face rather than come in contact with the beard. Sorry....

When I am looking for a quick shave to start the day, I decided to try the Van Der Hagen Self-Heating Shave Cream and see how effective it is.This has a strong scent, which can be a good thing if you find the scent to your liking. However, this was something I could do without.Another downside is that this has to be activated with water to avoid razor burn and cuts. While it did make it easier to shave, it still wasn't too great overall. While I may use this cream, I don't see myself continuing to reorder this on a constant basis.

Buying shaving cream for my husband, I came across this product. He loves this!! Never get me anything else is his direct quote. His sensitive facial skin is ecstatic.

Great concept but unfortunately due to the thickness of the paste-like product, the product application was a struggle. The container tube is difficult to squeeze compared to their Shave Butter. Felt some product remained in the squeeze tube after my Final shave. On the plus side, product does warm the skin. Noxzema made a similar product a few years ago, was much easier to apply, but am unable to find. If this product were made less thick and instead, creamier, the company would have a winner.

I have never had a warming gel before and it’s really nice! Using this and the after shave balm they offer has seriously cut down my razor burn and in grown hairs! Highly recommend!
