Extremely sharp and balanced! Excellent set of knives!
I waited to write a review until I've had a reasonable amount of time to use these knives and test their durability and reliability. I've come to the conclusion these knives rank right up there with some of the more 'professional' brand knives I've used. Having been a Chef who owned a catering business, I can tell you I've gone through my fair share of knives. Some great and some not so great. These knives easily fall into the great category. Out of the box they are extremely sharp, very balanced and feel comfortable in the hand and the block, which from what I can see is a mahogany stained block, is beautiful and blends well with surrounding kitchen decor. I mainly use the Chef and Sankotu knives and they've stood up to rigorous use with minimal sharpening. I think I've only had to sharpen the Chef knife a couple times. I haven't needed to sharpen the Sankotu yet but I'm sure I will soon. As with all knives should be, I only hand wash them and do not use the dishwasher so that reduces the chances of them becoming dull or even warped as knives tend to do if washed in the dishwasher. I can't say enough positive things about how they feel in the hand. They're are very, well balanced and feel like they 'fit' in your palm as an extension of your hand and I've never had a problem with unbalanced slipping or off cuts which is extremely important when you're trying to make 1/4 dices or julienne cuts. Being as sharp and smooth as they are, chiffonading is a breeze and so is everything else. I even use the Chef knive for dicing and slicing when I don't want to dirty the Sankotu which also slices through even the toughest root vegetable like they're butter. The smaller 'steak knives' have done exactly as I expected them to and make cutting through steaks (even tough roast) like it was all spam. Truth be told, I was hesitant on purchasing these knives because I'm wary of brands I've never used or have a chance to 'test fit' by handling the knives in-person as you one obviously can't do online. I'm very, very glad I chose to purchase this set! These knives have far exceeded my expectations and more! In short BUY THESE KNIVES! You will NOT be disappointed!

A great set of knives for an awesome price.
I gifted this set to my parents for Christmas. They have been using the same knives for many years and I thought it would be a thoughtful gift. Sure enough, they loved it! When unboxing, these knives were very sharp and came with a block that had a nice, dark wood finish. It looked great on the countertop. This set also comes with everything a usual kitchen would need. I love that it comes with all its steak knives! We were excited to use this set on Christmas and are happy to have it for future family gatherings. Great job, ESMK!

Excellent Knife Set with Minimal Concerns
I purchased the ESMK 15 piece knife set to be my first proper cutlery collection as I just moved into an apartment for grad school. Looking online, I loved the design. I wasn't expecting it to be the best out there as it isn't top-line, top-materials, but it is 100% worth the money. The knives are actually in wonderful condition and the block looks better than I imagined it would -- the magic of photography, I thought. However, it seriously is a great set; I chose it for appearance as well as it having a sharpener and kitchen shears which can be rare inclusions. The only reason it doesn't get a five out of five for me, is its sturdiness. Surprisingly the worry hear is not from the assembly of the knives but actually from the block and the packaging. One star off because there is absolutely no protection for the block or wrapping for the knives as a whole. The knives are contained in a doable paper case individually, then a thin plastic bag, then an overall paper box. Some of the knives point past their cases which is worrisome but didn't affect my case, but in all its the box of knives and the bare unprotected block in a large open box. During shipping, I'm sure the block gets thrown around a bit and the knives for someone else may cut it. The second sturdiness star off is because the block holes are roughly cut into it. While all appears nice that would normally seen, the bottom of mine still had shaved pieces inside that needed cleaning up. Said bottom and holes are generally not smooth and are less protected from the knives than the outside, with no coating or anything. Seriously, this is fine, but I would expect that they will wear over time faster this way and possibly lose minor shape.

Very sharp knife set
Out of the box I was very happy with the look of this knife set and block. Mine is darker than it looked in the pictures. I can't remember if that was an option or not, but I was very happy to see that the wood grain is as beautiful as it is in the pictures. I did learn that the handles became milky looking after first washing but I rubbed a light mineral oil into them and have now survived a few washings just fine. I expect that an occasional treatment with mineral oil will be required. the knives are much sharper than any set I've ever owned and I've had a few big box store knife sets. I enjoy cutting tomatoes and onions for lunch now or chopping fresh spices. I find myself enjoying what has always been a chore. I've noticed small rust spots on them that so far I've rubbed out while washing them. I'm not concerned with them. It's a good trade off for knives this sharp and at this value.

Best Knife Value on the Web
High quality, sharp, carbon stainless steel, kitchen knives in a Cherry storage box that matches my Cherry cabinets with cherry colored/stained handles!!! Careful - these babies are SHARP. The handle curve is quite comfortable and have three (rivets) to secure them to the blade. The bone shear sissors, and the manual sharpening post were very important additions to the knives. Always HAND WASH and DRY with a storage box put-away and this collection will probably be the last set you ever buy. Can't wait to donate my old dullards to the local thrift store. (won't miss them at all)

Great value
Great knives. Hold their edge. Warning however handles do come loose in dishwasher so only hand wash

Doesn't live up to expectations
Not sure these are worth the cost. Nice looking set and had a lot of blades and the scissors are good but the handles and blade tangs are not perfectly matched.Their's rough edges around the seems between the tang and wood on the handles. All the blades are fairly thin. I have a forged set from Costco that were half the cost and better made. The wood block had marks on it. I would have returned them if it wasn't such a pain to do so.
