Derby Originals Premium Half Fleece Lined All Purpose & Dressage English Saddle Pads with Pockets

Just having begun riding in a dressage saddle, I needed to find a way to carry essentials, especially on longer trail rides. Someone on a horse forum mentioned this pad, so I bought it and couldn't be more pleased... the underside has a fleece half pad attached, and the full pad is perfect size with the pockets placed so that they do not interfere with my legs when riding. They are generous in size and will hold my phone, a water bottle and lunch, and a lead rope.So glad I found this pad! Well done, Derby!

I absolutely love the softness and pliability of this pad. I love that there’s some extra padding in the form of fleece for the horses back. For reference this pony is 13 hands high this is a wintec synthetic pro dressage saddle for comparison. She’s only been ridden a handful of times but saddled with the pad about six times and seems really comfortable in it… so far no issues. I love being able to put my cell phone or extra things in the pockets. I also bought one in black for my almost 16 hand horse, and it looks just as good.

I used it for the first time on a long beach ride yesterday and it performed flawlessly. My saddle stayed put and on the pad, neither sliding forward or aft. I got the blue pad with yellow piping and it is very hansom. I got a couple of compliments on its good looks and inquiries as to where I got it. I especially like the insulated pockets which will hold my GPS (for riding in unfamiliar territories) and a cold drink/flask of whatever and lunch for those long rides.Update:A lady friend liked my pad so much, I bought a black one for her too. It is very hansom with its yellow piping and matches her saddle very nicely. To my surprise, the pad is now her favorite and she uses it every time she rides although she has some European pads she once thought were the best.Not only are the pockets very welcomed and practical, but the pad stays in place and does not bunch up anywhere so that your saddle is always correct on it and the horse's back in covered properly. I have used my pad a lot and it has kept itself surprisingly clean, but it is nearly time to wash it, so we will see how it looks and fits after it comes out of the wash.Update:The pad was very dirty after two months of riding, but it washed out more easily than I thought it would and looks great once again.

Super cute. Nice quality pad. I picked up the navy blue with yellow piping. Pictures look black but it is a true navy. I'm not for the fleece underside and will pull the stitching off. I use a half pad anyways. Pocket is nice and roomy. This is dressage shipped but I usually use dressage pads with my hunt because my saddle is 18 inch and need longer pads. Just buy it. You will not be disappointed. Oh, the picture with the pipping...that ends at the back, I wish it finished at the front and at the top of the spine and not offset in the back...but that's just me. I will also buy in black. Wish it was also in orange.

I have several of these saddle pads that I use for trail riding in the dressage size. They're made nicely, hold up to laundering, and the pockets are large enough to hold a sandwich in a plastic sandwich-sized container plus a small ice pack (alternately, a small bag of chips and regular sized drink fits, too). My only criticism is that the panels/the drop length are just a tad too short. Another inch of drop on both sides would make this pad perfect (I've used these on several different sized horses and dressage saddles, and the panels of my average sized dressage saddle come right to the bottom of the saddle pad, which makes it less than ideal to thread billets through the keeper loop at the bottom of the pad on the dressage-sized pad). That part is disappointing, but I make it work because the rest of the pad is very handy.

Very happy with the product. Looks great on my horse and fits my 17.5 english saddle very nicely. Pockets are good size and will easily store water, snacks/treats and other odds and ends when we go on trail rides. It does not have a gold trim on the white one but I was actually very happy that it was just plain as I think it looks better plain. Hoping it will stand the test of time.Quick update to my initial review...The saddle pad is still going strong, I wash it in my machine frequently (being white and all) and it has kept its shape and remained in excellent condition. It is so handy, even for arena schooling, so useful to have places other than my breeches very limited pockets to store items like keys, treats etc. Will be buying a black one soon.

This is a wonderful lightweight pad. It is a great size and the pockets are wonderful. I love having a place to put my phone and Chapstick when I'm riding both in the arena and the trails.

I bought this pad b/c I was unable to find a saddle bag for an English saddle that I liked for trail riding. This saddle pad fits my needs perfectly! I can fit a lead line, phone, sunscreen and a Gatorade in the pockets w/ room to spare. The only improvement to this saddle pad would be if one of the pockets was insulated to keep my drink cool, but an insulated water bottle would achieve the same purpose.

Looks really nice under my husbands Aussie saddle. The trim is a gold colour which matches his saddle stitching. He loves the pockets which hold a lot. The inside is very soft for the horse's back.

Good quality, yellow piping looks great. The pockets are a good size, not too bulky but with ample room to carry a folding brushing saw, cell phone and some snacks. The velcro closure seems strong and secure.
