Quality Product
Purchased the JVR- HM40G automatic chicken coop door. Looks proffessional. Hubby installed it without any issues. I was able to program the timer without issues. operation of the door opening and closing is perfect, smooth ,quiet. Sent question to support and received a quick reply about the anti pinch sensor, it is actually built in and works great,no additional wires .I tested the door closing with a full 16oz water bottle laying on its side within the doorway and the door worked perfectly and retreated back up quickly and gently. Highly recommend your purchase.

Great tech-support - great product
I loved the turkey coop door right from the beginning. It is extra large - which is perfect for turkeys and geese. It is very sturdy. Instead of a string, a sturdy metal arm is moving the door up and down. The descriptions are very clear and it was extremely easy to install and program the time. The door worked right away as it is supposed to. Unexpectedly, two weeks later the door did not open - i was in disbelieve and contacted JVR right away - the instructions how to contact JVR are written very clearly on the timer. It was a weekend night, but within a few hours i received a response. The technician asked for details and within minutes he diagnosed the problem, and it was clear that the problem lies in the powersupply. I went back to the coop and noticed that rats had chewed through the powersupply cable! It was a very easy fix and the door works again. The technician send me great suggestions how to protect the cable from rats so this won't happen again. So, my advice to users is that you make sure that the cable coming from the power supply is protected against rats. I can imagine that it is not easy to avoid that rats get into a chicken coop - but it is easy to protect the wires. If you encounter similar problems - don't worry - the tech team from JVR will reply very quickly and will be very helpful. I can highly recommend this product - it works fantastic and it is easy to install and big enough for turkeys and geese.

Hardy, basic, does exactly what you need it to do when you need it.
K.I.S.S. Keep it simple just like JVR's coop door. It does exactly what you want, and I can't say I have a whole lot of gripes with it. If you want automation on the farm and can plug this into an outlet, this is it. The other chicken doors out there with wifi, bluetooth, cheap built in connections, rechargeable batteries that have to be changed out, solar, and a bunch of unnecessary junk will break down and waste your time and money every single time. Even the ones with "good" reviews. One winter and they're worth less than scrap. This door is the only one I've found that so far is completely bulletproof. It's sealed up and secure, easily survives negative degree midwestern winters, and is also a farmer's dream because it's easy to repair ANY connection on it and fix/replace ANYTHING if it does go wrong since all the wiring is exposed by just opening up the latch holding the seal. Warranty service/product support is, unbelievably, extremely responsive, as well. I lost power to the unit one time and they responded to me via email almost immediately; helping me find the reason which ended up not even being a problem with the unit at all. Sure as hell beats out 99% of the ag companies that don't even bother responding to you or taking a call. Only gripes with this door is that: 1) it doesn't have any option for rechargeable backup batteries, so all of the functional parts are entirely dependent on having constant power. The timer does, though, so it's really not even that bad. With how accessible the unit is, I think I'll be able to even wire an adapter into it, because it is literally just that easy to modify. 2) The biggest problem: the safety mechanism is annoying to set up and less desirable than a pressure related safety sensor. If the door wants to close; IT WILL. If it wants to open; IT WILL. If that sensor doesn't flag as blocked: It WILL CLOSE. No matter what's in its way. The motor and gears are STRONG. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good thing in my book, but can also become pretty dangerous on the off chance an animal gets caught underneath it and doesn't trip the sensor. But again it's not "too bad" of an issue if the sensor is properly set and you time the close function for well past sundown. I have not had any issues so far, fingers crossed. Overall, 5/5. It's the best door on the market for my purposes. You can't beat the reliability, heavy duty design, customer service, and fixability. To my knowledge, no other product like this exists that can even remotely compare. They earned my business if I ever need more.

Works good, very convenient.
Works good, my first timer did not work consistently but good customer service, they sent me a new timer and now I have no problems. Easy to install, easy to set timer, I found that you may need to hit reset and start fresh as neither timer worked correctly to start with, I actually had to hit reset twice on my new timer and do a trial run by setting timer to open (on) on minute 1 and close (off) on minute 2, that did not work the first time so I hit reset again then it worked fine, I do not know how some people had a tough time setting timer it is very easy and instructions are pretty clear. The only issue is the door is a little flimsy because of being 2 pieces but it is plenty strong also the cutt out for door should be a least an inch smaller in height than the instructions tell you, I made it about 3/4” less and still have a small gap at top when door is closed and small overlap on bottom, will probably put some type weather stripping before winter to close gaps. Overall it is a great convenience having the door open and close automatically, it opens slowly and my birds fight to be the first out squeezing through a small opening, I like that it closes slowly so birds don’t get caught under.

Fantastic, flexible and reliable
This automatic chicken door opener is fantastic! It has given me peace of mind when I can’t get home or outside right away at night to close the existing hinged coop ‘pop’ door myself after it gets dark, and it’s super nice to know if I sleep in once in awhile, the chickens will be let out without me! The opener can have several open and close timers programmed, one for each day if you want, or just open and close at the same time every day. Programming it is not exactly intuitive with the button labels, but is very simple if you read the instructions. You can also turn off the automatic feature and just manually open and close it by pushing a button in the sturdy weatherproof control box case. There is an adjustable sensor that will stop the door if something is blocking it (like a garage door sensor). The sliding door opens/closes so slowly that I can’t imagine any chicken getting caught under it and killed, even if the sensor stopped working. It is NOT a dusk-to-dawn photocell timer, but rather one where you specify the times to open and close when you program it. Because we already had a pop door on the coop leading into the run before getting this, we had to retrofit the smaller auto door to be sure it sealed out predators and blocked the cold, so it took us more time to install. If you don’t have an existing door or if the opening is sized pretty close to what’s needed for this door, installation should not take you long at all. It also can be installed vertically or horizontally, which can help it fit if your space is limited. We have been using it for 2 months now, including through near freezing temperatures and snow, and there haven’t been any issues at all.

Reliable even in difficult weather
I've had this door installed for about 3 months, and it has worked perfectly every time without fail. I'm in Northern Michigan. So far this winter, we've had 127 inches of snow and the low temperature has reached -19 F. I've installed and removed two other brand doors that just wouldn't reliably close up the coop at night. If you're also where there's potential for lots of deep drifting snow, I'll share how I installed mine. I positioned the threshold of the door opening about 15 inches off the ground. And I made a little "tunnel" with pieces of 1x8 so that the door is sheltered at the back of a short entryway rather than sitting right out in the weather. Very happy with this purchase. It's built right.

The JVR Automatic Coop Door is Easy to Install and Operate, and is Dependable
My wife and I purchased the JVR Automatic Chicken Coop Door and couldn’t be happier with our choice. The JVR Coop Door is extremely easy to install. The installation booklet and 1:1 scale illustration provided by JVR makes installation quick. I needed less than 20 minutes to install the Automatic Coop Door in our coop. That installation time included cutting a 12” X 11” opening in the side of our coop. Features of the Coop Door we like include: easy to program, is priced right, uses standard electricity delivered to your home 120 volts to operate, the door operates slowly and safely for the chickens, comes with a study metal door, and a large door opening frame. The Automatic Coop Door easily opens or closes the coop door at either a preset time that you determine or allows you to operate it manually. The manual operation mode is very useful during cleaning of the coop when you want your chickens to remain in the run. We have our Automatic Door open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM after the chicken’s roost in the coop for the evening. The only issue we had when we plugged in the controller was a blank display. We contacted JVR Service asking for guidance. JVR Services responded to our request in less than 14-hours with step-by-step instructions to reset the battery. After following JVR guidance, we had our display and Automatic Coop Door working in less than 10-minutes. JVR Service is prompt, professional, and easy to follow. We’re very satisfied with our JVR Automatic Chicken Coop Door. Thank you JVR Service for an easy to install and operate, and dependable Automatic Coop Door. Johnny C.

A huge sleep saver from a good company
After a few weeks of waking up early to let the chickens out and then going to bed late after closing them in for the night (summer nights are short in Idaho), I realized I had better things to do with my time. I bought this automatic chicken door and had it installed in about an hour. As the coop is far from the house and power, I used a solar charged battery to power the door. It all worked but I had an issue with the solar systems AC/DC inverter causing battery drain. JVR support was amazing and had a solution for me right away. The chickens are happy, I'm happy, the door is very secure, is high quality, and reasonably priced. Couldn't be happier.
