This is a solid and attractive case, but it does add quite a lot of bulk (and weight) to the phone. The wooden back is the widest and tallest part of the case so it feels stuck on rather than integrated into the plastic holder. The plastic is hard and snaps onto the phone, rather than stretching around it, so I wouldn't want to be taking it off and putting it back on too regularly. It feels as though it would provide good protection, though, and the fact that the plastic extends slightly above the surface of the screen means that you can put the phone face down without any risk of scratching the screen. Likewise, the depth of the wooden rear of the case means that the camera extrusion on the back doesn't touch any surface when you put the phone down on its back.

This fits my iPhone X beautifully, and feels as premium as the phone - love it.

I like to wait a few months before writing reviews for durability testing sake.Having used this case daily for 6 months I can say safely say it’s quality in appearance and durability. The case fits the iPhone (x in my case) so well there is NO chance of the phone falling out. The finish I have is Walnut, it is real wood and is beautifully smooth and perfectly machined.The smooth finish doesn’t offer the best grip, I have dropped the phone a couple of times and there is only the smallest of dents to the hardwood.If you want Military grade protection and grip look elsewhere at the rubberised cases with big corners but if you want a case that adds minimal dimensions and looks classy then look no further.

I first ordered a case from IATO a few years back for (I think), my iPhone 6.Having just gone for an XS Max, I was looking for a case that offered me protection for the inevitable moment when it falls out of my pocket when getting out of the car, but still looked a little different to the majority.I've always liked the wood cases, but the one from a few years ago left me a little underwhelmed - the wood part was far too thin and it almost felt like a skin ?I don't know if anyone else had this experience and fed it back, as this new case certainly doesn't feel the same way.The wood part feels solid and (yes I know it is !) like there is actually a piece of wood (probably a millimetre, maybe just under?) as part of the case. There is no mistaking this for a skin !The sides are coated in a rubber sort of finish that is smooth to the touch and lets the colour of the phone and the wood draw the eye.The corners are protected well, although as it is an open case, the bottom and top are exposed. Given the level of protection on the corners, you would have to be very unlucky to drop it in such a way that it hits the open areas first, but I guess this is a risk.It isn't a particularly bulky case, although it is quite rectangular in the hand so if you have small hands, this may be an issue. It probably isn't a case for someone with a particularly outdoorsy job, or someone who's phone is regularly dropped, but for me, working mainly in an office, i think it's ideal. Smart enough for work and different enough to make people ask questions about it on a night out.I'm also using it with a glass ESR screen protector and there are no issues there - The case is screen protector friendly ( don't remember seeing it advertised as such, but it is )!Overall, I'm really happy with my choice - so much so, I might look at one in a different wood next !
