Was looking forward for this machine since I have used it before but the lid does not open at all.

lid latch failed, twice... on two machines
This is a quiet machine, does the job fine. The first one had a lid failure at about 1 year. We used it for an additional year by placing a bag of dog food on the lid because the lid latch failed. The latch is metal but housed in cheap thin plastic and when the mount failed, the latch failed and the centrifuge would not run. We purchased another one and instructed the staff to "close the lid gently" as to not break it but this centrifuge failed after only 2 months. Again, a bag of dog food placed on the lid got us by for about another month however now the centrifuge is very hot after only an 8 minute spin. I'm done with this brand. Cheap plastic, poor latch design, etc. We spin this machine about an hour per day, 10 six minute spins. I expect better quality.
