Good Basic Book
The travel writing business has changed dramatically with the internet. I purchased this book to give away as a prize at a recent travel writer/blogger event. If you want to make real money as a travel writer you need to be able to write about destinations without visiting them. Sad truth. This book can help you with some of the basics.

How to Launch a Niche as a Travel Writer
"Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer" is packed with ideas for articles, marketing, and includes tips on improving your writing skills. Veteran travel writer and columnist Jack Adler shares his secrets to help the writer establish themselves as a travel writer or to renew excitement and put a new zing in your articles.Adler discusses everything from the changing world of travel writing and how to find a focus for fleshing out articles to entering contests and IRS issues. He provides hundreds of suggested topics and themes for marketable articles.Dozens of sample articles from the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Chicago Sun Times, and several popular magazines demonstrate how to organize an article and how to develop a personal writing style.I found the chapters on launching a column and setting up and conducting an interview especially helpful. Also, of special interest to me were insights on queries and developing a special niche. The resource list, a travel terminology glossary, and an editorial glossary are important extras that add to the importance of the book as a resource guide for future repeated reference."Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer" is an important addition to every writer's library.
