Dustie sucks
This thing sucks. It's a little too "universal", meaning it doesn't fit any grinder well. It's also just a dust shroud. It is not durable or a "guard" of any sort. Mine lasted 2 minutes of a 10 hour job. I was grinding the garage floor with it and bumped a wall. The Dustie flexed and the blade ate it. The idea is great and it may work adequately if you're extremely careful with it. But its not worth $30. It also doesn't come with the hose and reducer shown in the picture.

Dustless cover
I purchased this item to be able to grind high spots in my concrete floor. The dustless cover was easy to install on my angle grinder and my shop vac hose on the cover connection. It works very well and also very economical. I would recommend this product.

it sucks a little
I picked this up to do fiberglass grinding on my boat. It works pretty good if you are on a relatively flat surface, but if you find that you have to tilt your grinder, it loses it's ability to control dust quickly. Granted, the shop vac I was using wasn't the largest around, but it is a medium sized vac and should have the suction to keep up relatively well as I use a similar system on a floor buffer for hardwood flooring for work. It would benefit from a flexible "fringe" around the perimeter to allow it to keep contact with the surface if you had to adjust the angle you were working your grinder. I was using flapper disks on my Makita which make a lot of dust fast. I cut the front of the dusty in two places to allow it to flex a little, but not have to take out a large section and I didn't notice a difference in performance from when I tried it before I had made the cuts. For a cheap dustless collar for a grinder, it is okay. You have to cut it down to fit your application, so you are going to be limited in that regard, but generally, you are buying this for one purpose anyways. For what I bought it for, it didn't really hold up to my expectations, but then again, it wasn't necessarily designed for what I used it for. I think this would be well used if you needed to grind concrete or other flat surfaces, not the contours of a boat hull.

It gets the job done!
I bought the Dustie to attach to my 4 1/2" Dewalt angle grinder to grind down some damaged concrete prior to patching with a diamond wheel. I was skeptical because the unit is rather cheaply made and flimsy, but once I got it attached to the grinder and vacuum, I was amazed at how little dust escaped. The air in my garage stayed virtually clear!I attached it to a Dustless Technologies vacuum with the optional internal bag liner. This vacuum complimented it well because it doesn't loose suction quickly while consuming fine dust.Another reviewer of the larger size said that his self-destructed when he bumped it against the wall and the wheel caught it. I have no doubt that this would be the outcome if you tried to grind flush to a vertical surface without cutting the front edge of the Dustie out, as allowed for in the instructions. I was careful not to bump the wall and have had no problems with the performance of the device. For a one-time use, this little thing was well worth the price for my good health and the time I would otherwise have spent cleaning every nook and cranny of the garage!Lastly, I would echo others comments that the Dustie does not include the hose to attach it to your vacuum, as show in the picture. I had to use an adapter I had and a little tape to get it attached tightly. Amazon should definitely correct their web page.

Too flexible, doesn't stay put, strap down the hose
May be ok for flat concrete grinding, but on a Dewalt 7" sander doing fiberglass boat repairs it lasted 30 minutes. At first it did quite well keeping the dust under control. Sanding out out filler with a 36 grit disc creates huge piles of dust in minutes. This picked up 80% which is very good in this work. But the plastic is very flexible and even the side pressure of the vacuum hose pushes the guard into the disc. Once that happens the plastic is gone in seconds. If you try this be sure to secure the discharge port to the grinder body with some tie wraps. But in the end I used the spout from this and the bottom of a $2 plastic trash can and made my own that has lasted a week. Dewalt grinders have three mounting screw holes on the face of the gearbox it was easier to just bolt it flat on. It stays put and has just a little flex, this one has way too much flex.

Does work.
I bought this item with little expectations. I was very impressed with the little or no dust that came out of a grinding job that would have been real messy. The construction seems a little flimsy at first, but once you get use to it that is not a problem. For the cost I was very impressed. My unit did not come with extension hose that is pictured here... and I having used it... I really don't see how that would be helpful. One thing I did learn the hard way... make sure to get a HEPA fine filter along with shopvac bag or the dust that you pick up comes right out of the shopvac. Hope this helps.

For the price, worth a try
Bought for my 7 inch harbor freight grinder. So I can only speak for that experience.Getting a good fit and attaching was a pain at first. It is adjustable to fit but the plastic tabs can be annoying to try to custom fit just right. And the included clamp was too big/long for my harbor freight grinder so it wouldn't tighten enough. So had to buy separate clamp and Lowe's clamps are taller. But after several times putting on and removing attachment/clamp, and then trimming tabs got the appropriate fit.As for actual dust effectiveness.... Meh... Initially I get it helped reduce dust some. I had done previous concrete grinding project without any vacuum attachments and it sucked big time. However with this attachment there was maybe 30 ish % less dust, but nothing incredible. But maybe it was my shop vac that couldn't keep up. IDK.For the price it was worth a try. Not bad but not excellent. Don't expect miracles and it'll be ok
