Bell Cocoon 300 Child Bicycle Carrier

I recently started using the Bell COCOON 300 Child Bicycle Carrier, and it has quickly become a favorite in our family, especially during the fall season.First off, the sturdiness of this carrier is impressive. It feels incredibly well-built, providing peace of mind knowing that my child is secure while we ride. The installation was straightforward, and it fits seamlessly on my bike. The adjustable straps and harness ensure a snug and safe fit for my little one, which is always a top priority.What really stands out is how much my kids love it! They enjoy the view and the feeling of being part of the adventure as we cruise through the colorful fall foliage. The padded seat adds extra comfort for longer rides, and the added safety features make every outing enjoyable for both of us.Overall, it’s a sturdy, reliable, and fun way to include my child in our biking adventure, and I highly recommend this carrier for any family looking to enjoy the outdoors together.

This product is worth the price in my opinion. Yes, the seat is a little too close to the bike seat, but we won’t be riding for extended periods of time and works for what we need it for. If you are a more intense bike rider or will be using this for multiple children as they grow, I would look into purchasing a different one. Other than that, my 2 year old loves it.

This seat is poorly designed. For starters, the seat mounts so close to the bike saddle that your heels hit the seat while pedaling.Even after adjusting the saddle as far forward as it can go (which messes up my bike's fit) my heels still strikes the leg cradles of the baby seat.Second, the mounting hardware is awful. It comes with these non-standard bolts with special washers that are supposed to fit most seat clamps but don't. I ended up scratching my really nice alloy seat clamp because, like most, it is tapered around the allen bolt and the provided bolt just dug into the alloy (did not lay flat).Third, I can't believe that this seat had no way of attaching it to the frame bosses that 95% of bikes have these days.Those are the mounting points and bolts used to attach things like carrying racks, saddle bags and, yes, baby carriers.Instead, it has these clamps that attach to the rear stays that are great if you want scratches or want to damage by crushing stays.Unfortunately, this was a gift for a friend who did not tell me about her troubles and my return window expired otherwise I would have demanded a refund.I would look for a better seat. If I find an alternative, I will update the review.

We purchased the Bell Classic Bicycle Child Carrier based on its reviews and as an economical choice for our almost 2-year old who will only get about 1 year's use from it.Now that it is on and we have test driven it, we like how he fits in it, and we feel comfortable with the safety it provides. It is nice, but not exceptional.But getting the seat on....Suffice to say that, as best as we can determine, this Child Carrier is made to attach to a road bike and not a hybrid bike, like ours (a Trek 7000). Our frame is thicker than that of a road bike, so attaching the seat to the rear fork was just barely possible with the hardware supplied. It was possible, but squeezing the brackets around the fork so that they were close enough for us to even begin tightening the nut took a lot of muscle! We also had the same problem as another reviewer, in that our bike has a quick-release seat, and does not have the kind of seat post bolt that the seat needs to be attached. We were able to remedy that by removing the quick-release mechanism, going to the local hardware store to purchase a 1/4-inch hex bolt (which fit in our bike's seat bracket), and using that instead of the provided 8 mm Hex Bold.At one point in our construction of the Child Carrier, we got particularly frustrated, and tried to find some customer support. There was a 1-800 number, which was closed on the weekend, and absolutely zero on-line support. I have gotten used to having some sort of on-line resources available to me, even if it is only a copy of the owner's manual, so the absolute lack of *anything* was very frustrating. (There is plenty of information for Bell bicycle helmets, but nothing for the child carrier.)So bottom line, if you have a hybrid bicycle (or, heaven forbid, a mountain bike), be aware that it might not assemble as easily as it should, and you may need to make an extra run to the hardware store!
