Love UArt sanded paper. It takes many layers of soft pastel, PanPastels, charcoal & pastel pencils. Wonderful surface to work on. My favorite color is black because it seems to make the colors pop.

One can use anything on it. I tone/paint the papers with watercolor and/or acrylic paint before I paint with pastels.It is lots of fun.

It was 600 grit Uart dark paper and is perfect for PanPastels. I also used pastel pencils for the details.

The uart paper performs amazing, it takes many layers of pastel and the sanded surface allows for that and a thick smooth application of pastel. The thickness of the paper is also a great plus, it will have a tendency to curl but is easily overcome by mounting the paper onto a more sturdy surface. However, the image of the paper appeared black which is what I expected, the paper came in as a more beige color but still performed great.

If you are interested in experimenting with pas pastels and pencils, this is the product for you. The 800 series is better, but this is great to start with. There are better brands, but... for the price, this is great to start with. You will need to purchase the pan pastels and the tools that go with the sets. WELL WORTH THE BUY!!!!! The only drawback I could see is that this package is small. You really want to work on a larger area. the problem.... the larger pieces are MORE expensive. All in All.... This is GREAT for small pieces and if you want to try this awesome medium. A very small learning curve using the necessary tools. You will have a lot of fun!!!!!

I love this paper! Never tried dark paper before and it really makes the colors pop. U-art is my favorite paper for pastels . The price is fair and because I cut it in half ( for 6x9 painting ) economical for me. Will definitely buy again.

Uart is a favourite of mine for pastel even though it curls. The black paper makes it easier if you’re doing an evening or night scene - it accepts many layers of pastel also so you can have depth in your painting!

I have used UART paper for pastel painting for about 5-6 years. I use the 500 grit. This paper seemed to not have enough grit on the paper and the grit was irregular so that while painting one gets lines across the page instead of a consistant grit all over. I have painted several paintings using several different makes of pastel and the paper continues to be irregular.I am disappointed because I bought this paper in a larger size 18 x 24 in a 10 pack to do larger paintings.
