It's good for what it is
This is a bare-bones electric kettle, mostly steel with no submerged plastic or exposed element. (While the lid is lined with a stainless steel cap, the plastic hinge that holds it on IS exposed to steam during use and often drips condensation through the tab that locks the lid, especially if opened while the pot is still hot. And it will be hot. Not insulated and unlined steel carafe gets very hot to the touch. The handle does not get hot (nor the lid,) and it is comfortable to hold and pour, but is situated in such a way that if pouring from a max fill, the steam can trail up and burn your fingers. It will also raise the ambient temperature of a small room by one or two degrees, which is welcome here, but maybe not elsewhere. It is impossible to drain completely because of an unusually tight rim, which leads to the issue of cleaning...This requires frequent descaling if you have hard water, and I highly recommend the manufacturer's suggestion of brewing loose leaf tea directly in the pot before your first use. I don't know if it's steel polish or some other coating, but the "new pot" smell/taste was unpleasant, even after several washings and a vinegar cycle rinse. The tea seemed to take care of that flavor instantly. If you have large hands (or even medium-sized hands) you will possibly need a bottle brush to clean this. I have taken to emptying the pot while it's still hot and leaving the lid open after use to air dry, but it does still need a brush for the weekly descaling. It has the benefit of a hidden heating element, so it does clean up very easily. But that rim... The automatic shut-off works well, although can take longer to trip the less water is in the pot or if the room is very cold. I've only been using it for six or eight weeks, so cannot attest to long term durability. Otherwise it's pretty solidly (if plainly) constructed. The base unit disc is lighter than the cord attached to it (which is fully safety compliant for this type of device, i.e. it's very short,) so proper placement could be an issue for some and it does slide around a bit through normal use. All-in-all, despite the flaws I find this an acceptable single-purpose appliance for daily use without extra features I don't need at an extremely affordable price. Good for a dorm cabin or workshop, but not your niece's wedding.I would buy it again for myself, but I would not give it as a gift, if that makes any sense.

It was good while it lasted
It was good while it lasted! This little kettle has no major bells and whistle‘s it is 100% stainless steel inside no plastic touches any of the water it is a one handle flip switch it’s fairly easy to clean as the entry hall is wide enough I bought this in August 2019 and it just went out on me yesterday. So not quite two years I use it multiple times a day and it has worked just fine. This kettle is not to be compared with a fancy temperature controlled cattle. It’s a basic standard mounted kettle that comes with a base that gets plugged in and you set it on the base and hit the on button it turns off automatically when it hits its proper boil and is very doable. Again like I say this is not a fancy kettle but it is utilitarian.

A budget electric kettle, that performs like a better-than-budget kettle
For the price alone, this is a great electric kettle to have: a capacity of 2L, auto-off, rapid boil, and a large enough opening to properly clean for hands of most sizes. The volume is enough for roughly 2-3 cups of coffee, so it might not be the best product for bigger spaces to accommodate most people, but is perfect for smaller groups. The auto shutoff feature ensures you don't overboil, and makes a distinct click sound to alert you when it's done. The rapid boil is also a great feature, where the full 2L takes roughly 5-7 minutes to bring up to a boil. But perhaps the best feature, is the wide mouth opening which allows you to properly clean the kettle (should you need to after many uses).The only major downside for me is that there's no way move the entire unit as one, since the heating base is separate and doesn't lock onto the kettle in any sort of way (for good reason), however, it can be cumbersome trying to stow it away if you need to make counter space.Pros: rapid-boil; big capacity for the price; easy to use; easy to cleanCons: might be prone to scum if you use tap waterRecommended Use: great for small pots of tea/coffee; small office breakrooms;

Started rusting shortly after purchasing and progressed.
The media could not be loaded. Kettle started rusting around pour spot shortly after using as well as around the seems. Works great but is rusting too much to be stainless steel. Need to replace now and there is no link to a customer service that I can find to inquire about a warranty or other option.

10 months owning and not working as well...company sending a free replacement!
We received this at the end of July 2019. It's now mid May 2020. We have loved having this kettle and use it regularly. It has started to act up in the past week. You can hear the water heating up and then it stops heating up. The light on the kettle also shows the light on when you hear it heating up and then turns off when it stops heating. It does this cycle about 4 times before the water reaches a full boil. What used to be very quick to boil water is now taking about 10-15 minutes. Some sort of internal malfunction. We are disappointed.*Update*I submitted my complaint through Amazon to the company. The company responded very quickly and I have a new kettle heading my way at no charge. I encourage you to reach out to them if you have issues.
