The US Army of World War I (Men-at-Arms)

SATISFYING ENTRY INTO THE OSPREY MEN-AT-ARMS SERIES.
Great entry in the Osprey series covering the U.S Army in the "Great War." The author Mark Henry does the usual fine job delineating the origin of weapons, clothing and organization of the "doughboys." Touches on military awards and divisional patches, as well as the exploits of a couple of well known war heroes like Alvin York, Eddie Rickenbacker and Charles Whittlesey. Very little of actual history is covered, but this is not surprising since Osprey offers books on campaigns, and battles as separate topics. Still all in all a satisfying entry into the series.

As stated in an earlier review, I find the combination of written descriptions and color illustrations invaluable as painting quides for my large scale busts. Lester A Tockerman

Good stuff. Quick read
Good stuff. Quick read. I would have liked to have had more line drawings given the limits of period photography.

The US Army of WWI
I would have rated this book higher if it went into more depth in the text. Particularly, more on the AEF's performance in action at various stages, and the influence, postive and negative, of it's reliance on British & French weaponry throughout the war.

Interesante
