Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) is a Bollywood romantic comedy directed by Maneesh Sharma. This film stars Ranveer Singh, in his Hindi cinema debut with Anushka Sharma. Band Baaja Baaraat is set around two wedding planners who want to keep business and love separate but destiny takes them another way. Produced by Yash Raj films, this movie was a resounding success at the box office. This movie did very well at the award ceremonies as well and Ranveer Singh won many of the Best Debut Actor awards in 2010. Maneesh Sharma was presented the Filmfare Award for the Best Debut Director.Ranveer Singh plays the role of Bittoo Sharma, a street-smart, unambitious final year student at Delhi University, who is the happiest when he is having fun with his friends and playing pranks on others. Anushka Sharma plays the role of Shruti Kakkar, who is everything that Bittoo is not. She is a well-mannered girl from a conservative middle-class family, who has her future thoroughly planned out. Fate plays a master stroke in bringing the two characters together and as one thing leads to another, they decide to become wedding planners. Bittoo and Shruti rent a tiny office space and commence their wedding planning business. They start off by planning small weddings for a few months, after which they graduate swiftly in the business to high class weddings and are always neck-deep in work. Bittoo and Shruti's platonic friendship starts to get deeper and this causes a little friction between them. They have their biggest wedding yet to plan, so they put their differences aside to pull off a spectacular show.Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baarat is a thorough entertainer. Delhi is showcased vibrantly in this movie with bright and bold colours. Maneesh Sharma has also succeeded in encapsulating the spirit of weddings and Delhi as a whole in this movie.
