Unnecessarily complicated
The first line in this book is: ‘Did you know that our planet is tilted?’. Then it goes on to explain how sometimes you are close to the Sun (sun?) and sometimes further away and this can determine the seasons. So, straight off, I’m not sure if this book is aimed at a toddler even though the illustrations seem to suggest so, but the text at a slightly older child. The illustrations are really, really nice, very bright and colourful. There’s lots to look at and describe, but I’m not so sure about the text. It seems slightly complicated to explain what is happening. For example, it goes on to explain why we have longer days in Summer and shorter days in the Winter in relation to our position with the Sun. I think that would require another explanation with diagrams showing how we move around the Sun, but I am not sure that this is the right place for that and this book would have been better off just talking about what you can see during the different seasons rather than explaining more about the position of the Earth and the Sun.In addition, there are some punctuation errors – missing apostrophes and commas, as well as the word Sun being capitalised in some places and not others. A few inconsistencies that should be looked at. I read this with my three-year-old niece, and all we ended up doing was describing what we could see and making up our own stories as the text didn’t really work for her.

Nice book but with a glaring grammatical error!
Like: the illustrations are colourful, interesting and well thought out; the explanation of the earth's tilted spin, and explaining how that effects the seasons (rather than just describing the seasons) is helpful; the book looks and feels appealing to myself as a parent and to my 4 y/o son as child.Don't like: I'm not a pedant when it comes to grammar - not least because I don't known enough about it, but there is a glaring misuse of commas on the first page that actually disrupts the flow of the sentence! It's that which is why I'm down-grading my review from what would have been 4/5 starts to 3/4.

A Stroll Through the Seasons
This is one of a series of, “Look and Wonder,” books, which include, “The Amazing Life Cycle of Butterflies,” “The Amazing Life Cycle of Plants,” and “The Great Big Water Cycle Adventure,” as well as this title – “A Stroll Through the Seasons.”These are early, non-fiction titles for children and this title takes you through the seasons of the year. The text is a little dry and, strangely, pitched a little higher than the bright, and cheerful, illustrations suggest. However, early scientific terms are well covered. I think this is an interesting book for children around Year 1 or 2. Educational, if not as engaging as it could be.

Lovely illustrations
This book is a nice hardbacked book and a good size. The illustrations are lovely and really show the different seasons well. Good narrative and perfect for sharing together and for confident young lone readers.

Facts about the seasons in a child friendly way
I really love how this book presents facts about the seasons in such a child friendly and accessible way. The reader is taken on a walk through the seasons and all the changes are explained through the simple language and cute illustrations. There are interactive questions, such as 'How many minibeasts can you spot?' and a section at the end with 'Things to do' and additional notes for parents and teachers. A really lovely non fiction book for our bookshelf.
