A terrible translation of God's Word, but there is some value.
I found this book to be translated by a team of men, the one with the most Greek experience was Frederick Franz. He only took two years of Greek in college. I taked English my whole life and i still have problems. But let's say the guy is a genius...He never took Hebrew and claims he taught himself. In 1954, he was in court to prove the accuracy and authenticity of the translation, the man couldn't translate a selected passage out of Genesis 2. Why? Probably because it isn't a place that they can change theology. Check it out online.HOWEVER, I did find extreme value in this book as far as proving that Jesus is God. If this interests you check the following verses. This is a great way to lead a JW to see Christ's supreme deity, even in this messed up translation. Go in order.2PT 1:17 God is the fatherJn 8:58 Jesus has always beenJn 10:30 Jesus and God are one, but they are taught to argue that they are of one mind. Even though the jews understood this to be blasphemy in the next verseJn 20:28 Thomas exclaims my Lord and my God. Note-Jesus doesn't correct him.Re 1:8 Jehovah says I am the Alpha and omega...Re 22:7 compare with v. 1:8, .....v.12-13 now Jesus calls himself the Alpha and Omega the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Jesus is saying this evidenced by v. 16Re 1:12-18 Is john talking about Jesus or Jehovah? Because it is pretty clear jesus is saying this, unless God died.THEN IS 44:6 This is what Jehovah has said, the King of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies, 'I am the first and the last, and besides me there is no God'Either Jesus is God, Jesus is a LIAR, or the Watchtower Society is off in its interpretation of who Jesus really is.

Selling Watchtower Bibles on Amazon is Great! Good for you!
My wife compares the Jehovah's Witnesses to Mary Kay with a few exceptions and that is Mary Kay has really good products! When I want to buy a bible no matter what translation it is i can usually get it at a local bookstore or online. I dont have to join or endure a visit from a Catholic priest if I want a new Jerusalem, New American, Revised Standard or other Catholic translated bible! The reason why so many of the other reviewers are all in a TITHER is that the ONLY way to get their bibles is you have to get visited and endure their shpiel about how you need to join their ONLY TRUE religious organization or be destroyed at Armageddon whenever the new date is ala 1975,1925,1018,1915,1914,1881,1880,1878,1874 blah blah blah! Im glad sellers have obtained a few rejects with small barely noticeable demarcations at a small profit for themselves. I got mine for a paltry 3 dollars and spent more in shipping than the actual cost so its not like they are making vast sums of money on these things. In a few years a typical once the market is flooded these bibles like most WT literature will hoard the empty halls of thriftstores and used bookstores as antiquated nostalgia. I purchase it for the same reasons i get mormon books as a resource for others to show them what real bad theology and translation looks like! If these are not going to be sold on Amazon then the others (Jehovah's Witness reviewers) should petition its headquarters to make sure they BURN extra blemished copies in reality that is where it all should go anyway, smile! Thanks another happy amazon customer im loving my grey edition NWT now i can look to see how many times scripture was altered and removed differently from the 1980 edition in violation of Revelation 22:18-19!

The worst construction quality possible
Since the JW's didn't want me to get a copy of their 2013 nwt i finally broke down and got one on amazon. I got a brand new one for under 7 dollars. I'm looking over it now and I'm shocked at the build quality. It's so LOW!The page edges aren't guilded silver, they're painted silver! Which isn't surprising considering it can't be guilded because they didn't sand the book block smooth. I mean this is pretty basic book making 101 stuff. This is supposed to be a "Bible" but the build quality has went downhill so much since the 1980s. The book block is glued and not sewn together. The most common problem in most Bibles is the placement of the ribbons, same here. So no points off for that. I like the fabric cover liner. I think it's creative and a nice touch. The ribbons are a joke. The standard for width is 3/8" wide, double sided satin ribbon. I can understand wanting to use skinnier ribbons because of the smaller size but still, 1/4" wide would've been satisfactory. The cover is made of gray faux leather (polyurathane). No other cover options are available. So it is going to be sensitive to heat. Leave it in a hot car for too long and it's gonna warp, or crumble, or partially melt (I've seen this a lot but never experienced it). The cover will also wear out quicker than real leather but on the upside, it's flexible and it could've hypothetically lasted longer than a hardcover. Except the polyurethane will break down faster than a hardcover. The paper quality isn't horribly bad. It's 28gsm bible paper with a low reflection. If you're making the official semi-holy book of your cult you'd expect better quality if it's not going to be offered in multiple formats and bindings. Honestly, 32GSM bible paper would've been a sweet spot, a good balance of opacity and thickness which would've helped since the text is NOT line matched. Line matching makes any text so much easier to read. The text is also in a paragraph format which is great for reading but with no topical headers on the pages, or section headings it makes it harder in any multi-column Bible to follow along. So the watchtower has taken every step to make it harder for a reader to read this book.I do like the bold verse numbers a lot. A lot of bibles reserve bold verse numbers to a verse beginning a paragraph. While I'm on about the format i think i should mention that since this "Bible" is primarily used as a tool for proof texting watchtower doctrines they could've went with a verse by verse format with a pillcrow symbol (¶), or paragraph header to show the start of a paragraph. The font size is an 8 which isn't bad for a standard size font. I'm unsure of the font size or layout of the large print edition. The other thing I've noticed is the spine seems to be collapsing since they didn't put a round on the spine. This is unfortunate but expected in the low build quality. The watchtower needed to reinforce the spine, that's for sure. I don't think they even used an oxford hollow in construction which would have given some rigidity to the spine to add a few years worth of use to it. But, since they glued the binding and didn't sew it this would have been problematic. A sewn binding allows a bible to lay open flat while a glued binding makes the block want to close on itself.Using my grading scale this Bible (if you can call it that) earned a D-. That may seem low and it is. I'm actually being generous. If this would've been identical but a hardcover it would've been a D+. A sewn binding automatically would've automatically been a D+, if they'd have done this Bible with a better paper quality, line matching, and sewn binding would've been a C+.The watchtower cut so many corners on this that they should be ashamed of themselves. There is not one thing about the build quality they got right. And the only other option is a large print edition.I've seen hendrickson bibles, and Christian art publishers bibles with far superior quality than this and neither of those are very high quality. The "translation itself is a perversion of what the Bible actually says. The watchtower designed this translation just to back up their beliefs since their beliefs are not found in a legitimate Bible without some smoke and mirrors, and sleight of hand. With this i bought an NET full notes edition bible. I like the accuracy of the NET but the notes really show WHY the texted should be translated certain ways. It really shows the blatant and purposeful perversion of the NWT. The NWT is the Worst translation out there. Go to any Barnes and Noble, ollie's, Walmart, or even hobby lobby book/bible section and pick out any bible and it's guaranteed to be more accurate than the NWT.
