Excellent product
Fifteen years ago, who would have taken time to rate an incandescent light bulb? They were a cheap commodity back then, 2 for $1 if you found a good sale. But the LED bulbs of today cost bigger bucks, especially if you're getting the "dimmable" kind. These are very good; although I'm not sure about their longevity yet. Ask me in 10 years.

Replacement that is better than the one it replaced
Three years ago I replaced every incandescent light bulb, and CFL, in our house with LED bulbs. I was shocked to end up discovering over 90 bulbs (including refrigerator, freezer, microwave, etc.) that needed to be replaced. Fortunately only two bulbs have failed since then, and they didn't fail completely.The bulb for which I made this purchase worked fine at 100% brightness, all the way down to 50% but then it would strongly flicker. This replacement is better because of the way the external housing fully lights up rather than seeing the internal LEDs. It looks a bit "creamier".LEDs are so often advertised as having a future of 1000's of hours. I do believe that is true. However the power supply, inside the bulb, that takes 120V and converts it to the voltage required for the LED is a weak point and I believe that is what failed in both of my bulbs.LEDs run cool, use way less power than incandescent, and even less than Compact Fluorescent Lamps. They are cheaper to use and easier on the environment.

Awesome LED bulbs
What a difference. Replaced incandescent clear bulbs with these in our pendant fixture. Really cuts down on the harshness. Dimmable too.

Slightly brighter than prior standard 40 watt bulbs.
The price seems reasonable, and I was glad to find that the bulbs fit into the socket of my prior dimmable 40 watt bulbs. The new bulbs are slightly brighter. If anything, it improves the ambiance of my kitchen island.

Quality is great but 4000k is just a *little* too cold
Really wanted to change the yellow lighting my apartment to something a little more clean white so I ordered these in the 4000k. In my opinion they are just a little bit too cold of a lighting for a home. Can't quite put my finger on it but it almost feels like the kind of lighting on a movie set. I think I will end op going down to 3200 or 3500K. Great quality bulb though!

It's a lightbulb. It does its thing and you forget it's there.
This is a very boring product. You put it up, it does its thing every night in a completely unremarkable way, until you forget it's there. In other words, perfect.Note: install by hand, using a gentle clockwise motion until you meet resistance from the bottom of the socket.

NOT Dimable -- flickers on dimmer
Bought this 40w replacement LED bulb to use on a 3-strength decorative desk lamp. Bulb has a distinct and noticeable flicker when dimmed, which my older, 60w replacement LED bulb (different brand) did not have. When I swapped the bulbs back to the way I had it, the flickering stopped, so it's not the lamp itself.False advertising to say these are dimmable.
