RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures (Switch) (Nintendo Switch)

I am so happy with this game! I grew up playing the original ones on the computer so I was really excited to see it on the switch. It's actually a lot easier to play than I thought it would be since they made the controls really simple for the console. I love being able to just sit on the couch and build my park without having to worry about a bunch of complicated menus or mouse clicking. There are so many different rides and things to put in your park and the graphics look really cute and colorful on the switch screen. I've been spending a ton of time in the adventure mode trying to unlock everything and it's just really relaxing. My favorite part is definitely the coaster builder because you can just draw the track and it makes these crazy loops and turns so easily. I even made a giant steel coaster that goes all the way across my park and my guests love it. If you like the old school building games you will definitely like this one too. It’s got that same fun vibe but it’s much more chill since the game helps you out with some of the management stuff like janitors and repairs. It also looks great when you dock it to the TV and see your whole park moving around. I’m having such a blast with it and it’s a great way to kill time when I’m traveling. Highly recommend!

I thought this was gonna be similar to the OG pc version…nope!

I have been playing Rollercoaster Tycoon since day 1, and I often reflect on how much I enjoyed the series. I’ve tried games like Planet Coaster and didn’t find it quite to my liking (a little too much freedom for a sim), and I wished that there could be a soft merge between the beautiful pixels of the PC games and the lovable 3d graphics of now. This game nails it. The rides have been polished but kept true to their original designs, including the carousel playing the original games music, but have easily introduced a TON of new rides, stalls, entertainers and more! The mechanics can be picked up quickly and tutorial mode isn’t a bore, though I wish that the camera could dip down a little more. The adventure mode is really fun and gives you creative moral challenges to choose between which will either benefit your park or hinder it (some do both). Changing prices and color schemes is simple, and the building mechanics are easy to pick up. I think my only complaint is that I can’t charge people to use the restroom anymore (it’s easy money…) If you’re on the fence about this game, let this review be your sign to get it!
