Beyond Merton
Fr.Rohr can be known to all a his true self experienced but in writings and his lectures .( I do not experience the power of his revelations unless he narrates his own works!) Long a great favorite and remains so is Thomas Merton. Father Rohr is a better teacher and withholding nothing is less selfish , more passionate than we grasp and experience the love and communion that is our divine inheritance. He is but he does not gloss over the pain of love or the tedium often plaguing meditation. Most unique and so helpful in our journey is his explanation that we learn more " by doing it wrong than by doing it right".So reassuring is that life involves " three steps forward and two steps back". And thank you , Father for sharing your experiences of pain and contradictions .This is no small l source of hope and gives credence that you have indeed know the path you encourage following through Christ.Final note , Fr. Rohr's works are not repetitive. They grow.

A thought-provoking book
Good book, I thought. It puts a lot of emphasis on meditation as a way of deepening our prayer life. He takes the mainline Christian clergy to task for not doing more to help their congregations to deepen their spiritual lives. Fr. Rohr is a Franciscan, and interestingly enough his thinking in line with a book by George Fowler, and ex-Trappist monk, who proposes that meditation is one of the best methods available to us for contact with God as long as we have that as our goal. As we advance, we become aware of our oneness with all of existence and this realization not only becomes known to us, but is experienced by us outside the normal thought processes, and becomes for us a state of joy and peace.

Every page is filled with intense relationships of learning, of grace, of love, peace and transformation with God.
Richard Rohr is a favorite spiritual teacher for me, who in this book, fills each page with an intensity that I feel compelled to underline almost every line, and mark every page, as a most read over and over again. I am deeply moved by this most gracious leading to see myself as I truly am and how it helps me to be empowered to know myself as revealed in Christ in a more and more transformed way. It speaks closely to my loving heart for Christ and to lead me to a deeper relationship with our Lord and all others in my life. Thank You RICHARD ROHR for putting so much of your soul's directions and teachings in such a condense single book!' I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking a deep life changing direct soul seeking spirituality with God and others.

Excellent insight into how we discover our truest identity.
I love this book because it resonates so deeply with the needs of our world today. Knowing our deepest self reveals why we act as we do. It relieves us of the fear that paralyze and divide us. We experience that we are loved and therefore capable of loving the other. We often speak of humanity as human beings. But most of us fall into the category of human "doings". Contemplation/meditation moves us, leads us and guides along the path toward truly becoming human "beings".

A Must Read for Rohr Fans
I am a great fan of Richard Rohr's writings so it will come as no surprise that I loved this book. I believe that this book is now my favorite. It manages to be spiritually uplifting as it informs. Rohr is so brutally honest about his own faith journey, the conflicts that he experiences between religion and spirituality and how he lives his faith holding those conflicts. This is about contemplative prayer, not the technique of such, but of being and living contemplatively, and how this is the way that the world will be healed. This a book that I will read many times as I have earmarked a number of pages for deeper reflection.

It is a great book to take on trips
This book is a compilation of topics that have been covered in many of Rohr's previous books. It is a great book to take on trips. Rohr is on my Best Authors List; he is spot-on in his understanding of how to understand Catholic faith. I'm not Catholic, however Rohr's ideas are such that can give hope to many people who are of Christian faith or to those who are not affiliated with Christian belief.Amazon is a great site to find books that are quality.

Food for the heart.
Quite a small book - which is good news. Richard Rohr doesn't string things out - every paragraph is worth reading.

Get Ready!
This book provides challenges to anyone who lives a carefully structured and protected life. Very few articulate those challenges with as much clarity and truthfulness - and brevity - as Rohr. This book is a challenge to outer authorities and confrontative to those who avoid inner authority.

A Book You Won't Want To Put Down
I am only half way through the book and already I have been challenged and inspired. It us such a relief to discover that I am not a heretic . Fr Richard put such logical and Scriptural reasoning to so many of the current issues in the Church, his writing is both reassuring and exciting.
