one of the few non-superficial bands that MTV can't wreck
few bands come across with any sort of soul these days, and this is one of them. just doing their thing. of course, comparisons would be Joy Division, but in the best way. if I were you, check them out now. no need to worry too much though, they're too moody to break past anything but MTV's 120 minutes. maybe the fat vj kid will know, or maybe the weird nerdy girl vj whose lipstick is on the outside of the lines, and maybe you'll hear their songs in the backgroud of the Real World. the point is, MTV will know, which is some form of a stamp, but check them out now to make them your sound before they do.

Oh, Paul.
To tell the truth, I really don't like most of this EP. The only thing that saved the CD was Precipitate, which is one of Interpol's most powerful songs. Paul's sounds too tremulous and boyish on these versions of PDA and Roland, and consequently, the songs lose a lot of their power. The guitars in those two songs, as well as 5 all sound rather strangely muted. However, 5 is a somewhat thought-provoking, albeit weird, track, and it is certainly better than PDA or Roland. I'd say this album is worth buying, but only if you like Interpol already.

Absolute Rarität!
Diese EP ist eine absolute Rarität und jeder Interpol Fan, der stolzer Besitzer davon ist, kann sich wirklich glücklich schätzen. Die CD ist kurz gehalten, was für EPs auch so üblich ist. Zwei Songs (Roland, PDA) wurden später nochmal, teilweise in abgeänderter Form, auf Turn On The Bright Lights wiederveröffentlicht. Dennoch lohnt es sich durchaus, die alten Versionen anzuhören! Die Songs "5" und "Precipitate" findet man auf keinem anderen Interpol-Album, was allein schon ein guter Grund ist, sich diese CD zu beschaffen (allerdings wird sie nicht mehr produziert - limitierte Stückzahl!)Als Interpol-Liebhaberin kann ich dazu sonst nur sagen, dass ich es wirklich nicht bereue, diese EP gekauft zu haben. Sie hat mit der Zeit einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen bekommen.Interpol war einfach schon immer eine Band der Extraklasse und hat das auch mit dieser ersten EP eindeutig bewiesen!
