Light indications are undependable.
The cable is as described, with a woven wrap. But I believe the light functions have been modified since first offered ?I was never able to get a red or amber light during the charging process.I tried the cord at various levels of discharge of my MacBook Air,at 95%, 70%, 55%, 40%, 25% and 10%. The Moshi cable always showeda pulsing green light. Or as Moshi described it as a"breathing" light.I tried the "reset" as one previous reviewer mentioned, but this made nodifference, no red or amber light, just pulsing green.Once I left the cable plugged in to complete the charge, I monitored thelevel or state of charge and the associated light condition. The Lightcontinued to breath green all the way to full charge. Even when the MacBookindicated 100% charge, the cable light kept pulsing. So I left the cableplugged in and within 15 to 20 min. the light stopped pulsing and show asteady/solid green. So, the cable does not function like the old Mac Mag-Safe cable did. I reallydid not expect it would, nor should any else who orders one. But it does letme know that charging is in progress, and when full charge is complete. That works for me, and is a worthwhile improvement over the factory cable! If what I have described is an incorrect operation, I hope Moshi or anotherreviewer will indicate otherwise.Update 7-4-23Very disappointed. My first review was made after my first use of this product.I have used it two more times, and neither produced the same results.Second use never showed a solid, non pulsing (breathing) green light after full charge (even after a couple hours) But the light still pulsed in an even steady pattern.Third use showed an odd/different pulsing pattern green light, like morse code, one slow long and two shorts. And again it never showed a solid steady green even after a couple hours of full charge showing on my MacBook.I tried the reset as described by a previous reviewer. That at least got the light to revert back to the steady even pulsing green, but only for a few minutes. it then went back to the one slow long and two fast shorts. But it never again stopped pulsing once the MacBook had reached full charge! This is unacceptable and undependable. I did not purchase this cord because it's braided, or strong, or supposedly charges faster than the proprietary Apple cord that came with the MacBook. I purchased it because of the light and full charged indication it was supposed to give me.I will be returning this item. This kind of frustration at this price is just not worth the trouble.

Works well for me paired with the 100W PD 3.0 GAN charger also purchased on Amazon
The LED is great for quickly and easily knowing when my 16" MacBook Pro is charged and for reminding me to not leave it plugged in all the time (which isn't good for the battery.) The only small negatives I can find are: 1. The cost is a bit high for the addition of an LED power light, but I can understand that these are probably not made in the large volumes required to lower the cost more. 2. The end connector could likely be constructed a bit stronger considering other users' complaints and looking at it closely, but I haven't managed to break it myself. 3. It would've been nice if it also supported full USB 3.2 data speeds so I wouldn't need to buy or carry any other USB-C data cables for when I want to hook up an external SSD or other devices needing faster data transfer rates. Having said all this, I would not hesitate to recommend this to others or to purchase it again in the future if I needed another USB-C charging cable with a power indicator light. The maker should look into making a new version supporting USB 3.2 10Gb transfer rates... they might be able to then sell more, reduce costs from larger volume production and consumers would then only need to buy this one cable for all their needs.

Update! LED works perfect on a real PD charger, not so perfect indication on ordinary USB-C charger
Listen, the old MacBook pro MagSafe indicator light was super cool, but this Moshi cable is an aftermarket implementation, so it just cannot function the same. Just understand this light is a different indication... the light simply indicates what's happening at the cable end, not what's happening with your battery....If you want the light to work like the MagSafe light, you just gotta "reset" the light every time via disconnect the cable from the power source.... then it will reset to amber. If it is already plugged into the wall, and the light has turned green, it will always remain green, as per the last indicated status... and when you plug it into your MacBook air, it will then still indicate Green... which you want to think of as "Fully charged" but again that is not what the light indicates! The cable light just needs a "reset" via unplug from the wall... OR, of course the cable works like a normal cable, always power is available... Simply if you are keen on the light indication part, then do the cable disconnect "reset".Once you wrap your head around that distinction, you will love the cable.-Update-Plugged the power cord into a proper PD charger. It works perfectly, exactly as advertised, just like the old MacBook Pro MagSafe power cord. So, even more 5 star than before!

How did Apple ship power adaptors without this?
This is a fantastic addition to my MacBook Pro. I lamented the loss of MagSafe for the magnetic snap-on quality, but I didn't realize how I actually missed the little charging indicator the most. This cable solves this problem and brings the charging LED back. It's not perfect: it doesn't always switch to green when the laptop is fully charged. (I've found it does a better job when my MacBook is sleeping.)This product would be fantastic if it just had an LED that says "hey, i'm plugged in"—the USB-C cable from Apple sometime slips out ever so slightly and I don't even realize it until I've drained most of my battery and get a low battery warning. The fact that it also helps show charging state is icing on the cake.

The light is great for Mac users, not always reliable
Mac users got used to the colored light indicating charge status with MagSafe chargers. When Apple switched to USB-C charging bricks that went away, until I found this cable. Its great as it does show when its charging most of the time, but I've found once its over 85% it may show green or amber, so its not always accurate. It works on my Razer Blade laptop as well as my MacBook Pro and MacBook Airs when paired with the appropriate wattage charger. I can't give it 5 stars as it was a little more expensive and it doesn't always show correctly, but it does enough that I've definitely made it an every day carry in my laptop bag.

Impressive build…... UPDATE - I THOUGHT
Plug in MacBook Pro or iPhone every evening while in bed and precede to watch movies etc. Have gone through a couple Apple cords so it makes sense to try another brand. Cheers. UPDATE- A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

Poco affidabile
