Kahtoola's Microspikes are a pocket-sized traction system that allows everyone of all ages to get outside and enjoy the winter safely. These slip on spikes dig into all types of terrain - ice, snow, wet rocks, concrete and push. Extremely durable, they attach securely to your shoes and do not require special buckles or straps. Review: Durability, Fit, Grip, Safety, Stability, all of the above. These are quite aggressive allowing for great traction on ice and slippery trails . These are my 3th pair of Kahtoola’s after returning a cheaper pair that broke several years ago. A little pricier than I’d like to pay but hey, you get what you pay for right? It’s the only crampon/ icer I would own Review: I use these up north on the lake in the winter. When there’s a dusting of snow on top of the ice these are butt savers. No joke. You step on dusty snow on ice without these you’re on your backside. These grip like crazy and even make walking in normal deep snow easier. Kinda like little claws. I can walk up and down a 45° ice hill no problem at all…like it’s pavement. They are a challenge to get on but if they were easier they’d prolly just slip off. Wearing these in the city? I think you’d want something a little less intense. They wouldn’t be too great walking on sidewalks or pavement. But they’re not designed for that but keep that in mind.

These work well on ice and snow. If you hike in winter on trails these are outstanding. Once you use them you'll never go without them again. They store in a small sack so you can keep them in your pack until needed. Super easy to install, I've done it standing up. They are fine with ice on rock -- the bare patches don't hurt them. Snow doesn't tend to pack into crevices. These are great.
