MCCC Professional Defender Tactical Pen, Self Defense Emergency Tool with Glass Breaker Writing

I like this pen because it has a low profile in my cargo pocket. Unlike some of the other “tactical” pens that have pointy ends that would tear up my cargo pants. This pen is well made and the pocket clip can be removed if you have a notepad or something to slip it into. Bottom twists off so basically the writing end is facing up. It has a slight point on it even when closed. Just enough to do some damage or break glass. the Parker refill option is perfect too. I didn’t want a pen that used proprietary refills that you could only buy from that same company. This pen is stylish enough to be your primary pen as well as long as you don’t mind twisting the cap off each time to use it. Ink comes in black and seems to write in fine point. Great purchase for me.

Well machined and finished, particularly for the price, but it does have some design errors in my opinion. The main ones are that the cap is a screw on design and once the cap is unscrewed the pen design is such that no threads are provided to allow it to be installed on the glass breaker end of the pen. This makes it easy to lose the cap if using the pen in the field. IMO all ballpoint pens with caps should be designed so the cap is a pull off design and the tail end of the pen should allow the cap to be securely installed when writing. Otherwise it is too easy to lose the cap.

Inexpensive pen that feels pretty good in the hand, until you're writing with it. The cap doesn't attach to the back of the pen at all when in use, so you either need to hold it (which makes holding what you're writing on more difficult), set it down (which risks losing it), or set it on top loosely (which makes it awkward to write with). Also, the pocket clip on the cap tends to loosen, so I ended up losing the clip before I had a chance to hit it with Lok-Tite. Since I can't carry it clipped to my pocket (one of the main features I wanted it for), it now lives on my night stand in semi-retirement after only a little bit of use.

Just received this today so haven't had a chance to use it as a pen much. Very nice looking and seems well constructed and the nice thing is it does not scream "defense pen" like so many other brands do, instead it looks fairly ordinary. The pen writes well and takes common refill cartridges. I like the screw on cap so it won't come off in your pocket. Nice design, it is comfortable to write with, it is nice looking and for the price it is a great deal. I do have to laugh a bit at the picture of someone writing with this pen-- it is not as large as pictured. It is a slightly larger than a normal pen, very unobtrusive and it is comfortable to write with.

Found this to be a excellent pen. Writing nice, but that’s not why I bought it. Wanted a not so noticeable defensive tool. This one fits the bill. Other reviewers, concerned that the cap isn’t threaded, on the back, while your writing, you might lose it. Nonsense, push it on and it’s fine. Lets be honest, the main reason for it, is a self defense tool or a glass breaking tool. Will be purchasing more for gift giving.

First, I must say that it is a great pen for the price. Second, I must say that I sadly had to return the pen because I have a very weak writing hand caused by a spinal condition so I couldn't grip this pen well but it is because of the way I have to grip pens and the particular layout of this pen. Please don't let my experience negatively reflect on this pen.

Excellent tactical pen that is sturdy, well made and most importantly the clip is strong. I’ve bought many tactical pens, liking some of the more streamlined versions for looks but had major problems with the tiny screws keeping the clip on. Not a problem at all with this pen. Was so happy with it I ordered two more pens to have for the future or to give as gifts.

Shipped really fast. Good product. Bought as gifts for my shift. I wish I had the option of blue ink as I had to buy blue refills because our agency requires blue. Other than that seems to be a good product!
