Mom can see the fine lines in her coloring books, and her daily crossword puzzles
Thank you for the speedy delivery. It arrived 4 days before due date. I bought this for my mother as she is an avid coloring book fan. ( She actually never stops coloring, she always colored with me, my children and now she has dozens of books that she spends endless hours coloring. She was finding it difficult to see the fine lines with many of her pictures and was straining her eyes. When I saw your Hands-Free Page Magnifier I had to buy it. In fact I purchased two in case they were not available in the future. She loves her Magnifier, and uses it everyday for hours, This is perfect for her as she has Dementia, and she enjoys coloring and crossword puzzles. She is using her Magnifier on everything!Thnak you for such a wonderful idea that is very lightweight and can be used both around her neck and on her lap.I recommend this product for anyone, it can be used in so many ways, even her great grandchildren love it !

Didn't meet my needs ...
I am puzzled by the numerous highly positive reviews for this “Authentic FiveJoy product” which led to my purchase, perhaps I had unrealistic expectations for the ~$20 charged? The following bullets are my observations which may perhaps help other buyers considering this item. They are based on my initial evaluation after receiving the product.1. It uses a plastic fresnel lens so perhaps one should expect some quality tradeoffs. However, the lens starts to distort the image sufficiently to cause blurring of text approximately 2” to either side of dead center. For reference the overall width of the lens is ~9.5” in “landscape mode”, i.e. with the longest dimension of the lens across the width of a letter size page and my eyes were about 7" above the screen and directly over it, perpendicular to the screen. By 3” from the center on either side there is color fringing aka chromatic aberration and bright purple edges to the sheet of paper are distracting beyond this distance. These measurements were taken using the lens with legs extended, so ~4” above the letter. Viewing a full width letter is not practical in my view without moving the lens back and forth across the page to maintain a sweet spot for focus and lack of distortion, which gets old really quickly.2. There is significant distracting reflection from the top surface of the lens in a normally lit room. A slightly matt or “ground” type surface would probably eliminate or reduce this and improve the experience. My various attempts to shield the lens were not effective and made it awkward to use as well.3. The legs are quite fragile and didn’t fully open on one side. They are adequate provided you treat them delicately. Leaning any weight on them won't end well!4. The LEDs cast enough light in a dark room to read by but I did not evaluate for any length of time to see if it was sufficient to avoid eye strain as the light level was quite low. The battery compartment was fiddly to open and the use of springs on both ends of the battery compartment to retain and connect to the batteries were a substandard arrangement requiring a surprising amount of fiddling to fit the batteries. I could see the springs breaking or deforming quite easily from this.5. Expect the unit including the lens to collect dust due to static. The dust isn’t easy to remove from the underside due to the corrugation of the Fresnel lens.I am not sure what the difference is between this and other very similar products at close to half the price on Amazon but this product doesn’t meet my needs and wouldn’t work for me even at those lower prices. I intend to return this item and will continue to use an old but higher quality conventional glass 3.5” diameter magnifying glass for my purposes, and perhaps find something to clamp and hold that lens for hands free work. I hope this item works better for you if you choose to purchase since many other reviewers seem to find it satisfactory.

You are getting what you pay for
The magnifier is fine although it requires you align things pretty close to the center for true clarity. The entire unit is plastic including the magnifier, which is why it is somewhat difficult to get clarity from. The string is annoying and does not have a detachable option. We ended up cutting it off the first day because it was just too big of a pain. You have to put the batteries in and turn on the light for the device to work as promised even in good light situations.

Was hoping for a miracle...
My mom has a really bad time seeing to read. Her eyes jump. So I thought if she could use this to make everything bigger, that it might just make it easier on her. She said it does make it a little easier but it is still hard for her to really read. She was happy with this though because she does have times when her eyes are not jumping so much, and she can read her mail with this. Was hoping for a miracle I guess, not the products fault. It works great when she is having a few good moments. She was using a handheld magnifying glass and sometimes she would lose her place when she's moved it to the next line to read. So this is so so much better. She can see practically the whole page. 😊

Plastic Magnifier-Flimsy-Distorted Image
I purchased this plastic magnifier in March 2016 for my mother. She was so disappointed in its functionality. When I tried it. I could not believe what I was seeing. I put the product away and forgot to return it so I am stuck with the souvenir. The plastic magnifier is of very little use. One has to constantly move the plastic magnifier around to see the words on a page since the images are distorted. The magnifier itself is "grooved/ribbed", hence the issue. If it was plain like a piece of glass, it may have worked. The size of the product is perfect for reading the newspaper. The material is a very cheap and flimsy plastic. It is not worth it to pay more than $1.00 for this item. I cannot understand how other customers find this product useful. My mother is over 80 and it is a bit much for her to be constantly moving the plastic magnifier around to read. My recommendation would be to choose a good old hand-held magnifying glass.
