Warming gel
It works great. Just like the product I used 50 years ago.

amazing stuff for sore joints, aching muscles n arthritis
i'd tried alot of products, nothing seem to work so i resorted to using ice packs and thought to give this stuff a try and im glad i did. it dont burn , it tingles a little and warms slightly and it does the job. if i want it hotter, i rub it on like usual and use hair dryer about 6-8 inches above it n let the heat of hair dryer pentrate this stuff deeper and warmer. i really enjoying this. i thought i would need the hotter stuff but im glad i went with this medium instead. the atomic balm, its not to greasy and smell is good also. i also let my dad use it on his arthritis shoulders, they give him major problems with being stiff, throbbing pain, n can't barely move his arms or etc. so he tried this stuff. a simple rub in and he said he liked it better than any other ointments he'd ever used. i'll be buying this from now on. very very good stuff. you wont regret it.

Use this if you want to max out your pain tolerance.
Have you ever taken a bite of pizza as soon as it hits your table and then the roof of your mouth starts to melt like some witch’s wax candle on Devil’s Night? Well this stuff makes all of your arms feel like that. All of them. It’s like putting your muscles in the microwave with some metal forks, a Chihuahua, and about thirteen Hot Tamales and then setting the timer for forever. It’s that feeling you get after having spending a week on a desert island with nothing but a used tissue to cover your skin and then deciding to get a tattoo of Van Gogh’s The Potato Eaters across your chest. It’s like shaving with a dull razor and then pouring alcohol all over your face. And then lighting yourself on fire. You slap some of this gelatinous magma on your thighs and the next thing you know you’re recreating the death of the T-800, except instead of a thumbs up you’re trying not to get this congealing spread of orange hate into any open orifice. This stuff could start a small block Chevy just by being rubbed on the hood. It’s probably what killed the dinosaurs, and melted whatever is left of Mickey Rourke’s face. I once tried putting a dab of Atomic Balm on a strained pinkie and three minutes later I was playing strip charades in Hades and winning. Basically, if you want your muscles to feel like you’ve left them in the oven on broil while repeatedly ladling boiling motor oil all over your skin, then this product is probably too strong for you. To use this you need brass balls you can take off, put in a drawer, and leave them there for a week or two until the Atomic Balm wears off, because lord knows you don’t want this gelatinized paste of sweltry slag touching your dangly bits. I sometimes lather my entire body in Atomic Balm and spend the weekend pretending to be my least favorite superhero; the Human torch. Use this if you want to max out your pain tolerance or maybe, I don’t know, loosen up some muscles before you coast on the elliptical for an hour. ****** 5 YEAR UPDATE ****** 1 divorce, 2 years of Covid, and three tubs of this beautiful magma later, and Atomic Balm is still as hot as ever. Sometimes I lather it all over myself just to see if I can still feel anything anymore.

Love this stuff, once i learned not to use to much at one time.
As a warning to others, this stuff gets super hot if you use to much. It was my own fault though. I put a little on and didn't feel much so i though, oh this stuff isn't that strong. I should have waited a little longer for it to kick in because after adding more i had a chemical burn and had to take a cold shower for about 15 minutes and wash down with soap. Even after that my arm was red and burning ,not as bad, for awhile. I have noticed it takes a bit to start feeling it when you use the right amount, at least that is my experience. So now i use just a bit before i go do heavy lifting in the gym. I have noticed my shoulder pain almost disappearing by using this before working out and icing down after lifting. Plus the price is great considering how much you get and how little you have to use. I have been using tiger balm for awhile but that is way to expensive for the tiny jar and not nearly as strong. Remember just a little dab on your finger will be enough for your entire shoulder and upper arm. Probably the same amount for a sore knee.

Huh?
Ok.... Ive officially had this balm for almost 2 days now and have used it about 4 times now. I'm not sure if I got the same product the reviews are writing about? Did I get a defective balm?? I don't understand ..... All the reviews have in common is how "hot" the balm gets on your skin while it's doing its magic with the muscles except I have not experienced anything near that? I have massaged this balm into the sore muscle for 5-10 minutes, really giving it as much of a fighting chance but I don't feel ANYTHING. Sometimes hours after I applied the balm, I'll feel a slight tingly sensation but that's it.... No warming and most certainly no "hot" feeling.. the balms consistency is just like Vaseline so it can be a pain to wash off if you're washing it off within 30 mins or an hour of applying. For me, I have applied it before bed after my night time shower and by the time Im up in the morning to wash it off, there's basically nothing there texture wise so honestly I can get away with not washing it off but I have found the minty scent to linger so that's why I even wash it off in the first place. I have found foaming hand soap to not clean this off my hands. Soap bars or gel hand soap will be your best bet to wash it off your hands after you're done applying. Overall, I don't get the hype of this product and I'm sad because I wanted something reallyyyy strong to do its magic on my sore muscles before and after my runs but unfortunately this is not it for me.

Five Stars with a warning
This has been a very usable product for many decades. I vaguely recall it being used a great deal in locker rooms after games. If you're a normal athlete or person and not using various drugs like blood thinners then you shouldn't have any problem with this. I found the smell a bit overpowering. It does contain . 025% capsaicin. Warning: this 12.5% methyl salicylate. If you are on blood thinners like warfarin this might lead to a high INR number. In other words it is likely to thin out your blood more than you would want. Salicylic acid is the ingredient in aspirin which is to be avoided by people who are on blood thinners. I do not believe the actual ingredients in atomic bomb were listed with the product on the website. I also ordered Maximum Strength Hot Cream at the same time I ordered this. It has no salicylic acid in it at all and it's made up mostly of a rather amazing concoction of various plants. To my amazement it actually works. If you are a botanist you will love the ingredients.
