Hi, Dylan! The tips are made from Tungsten, with the replaceable rubber attachment included. The grips are made from EVA foam. Cork is a bit sensitive, and chips over time. We found that EVA foam is tougher, and lasts longer.

This might be a silly quest...can you use one and give the other to a partner or is it a left or right kinda thing?

Yes. I use them with the rubber tips on streets quite frequently, and remove the rubber to use them with the spikes on icy streets. They shrink down quickly for me to put in a big handbag when I reach a store, etc. I take them with me on holiday - they even make wandering around museums less tiring for me.
