Works grat
I use this smoker at least 3-4 times a week. Absolutely no smoke escape if vent is completely closed, however if you want to open it the smell is like a barbecue but not over powering. Kind of like if you walk in a BBQ place only milder. I've cooked everything from burgers, hot dogs, seafood, veggies to just about every meat possible. Tip: the type of wood chips you use will also play a part in the depth and taste of smokiness. Extra tip, get some liquid smoke in stores and marinate to help boost the flavor. I have both the large red as well as the small black one. Sometimes I use both at once and still no smoky smell. By the way I have a regular hood vent nothing powerful and using it on low is enough.

Smoking Meat is King of Flavors!
It's a 10 out of TEN!I never had smoke before. Just tried it out of a whim....curiosity and my gosh. They gave a Hickory and Apple Cedar to try flavors and amazing.I tried to actually cook meat first in over 1hr, then I broil it for 5 minutes, then smoke it for 45 miunuts or so depending on size of beef.It so flavorful. I NEVER tasted anything like it.I tried Sous Vede and hated it. Just no real taste difference or texture, but smoking is king.

There will definitely be smoke in your home.
This stovetop smoker was delivered to me just this morning, so I opened and cleaned everything to test out cooking 2 pieces of salmon I had marinating in a dry rub overnight. It's a nice-looking pot and feels very sturdy with weight to it. I followed the directions sprinkling a couple of spoons of applewood dust that came with my order. It didn't take long on high heat on my electric LG range to get smoke to begin wisping through the lid. Once that happened, I turned down the heat. I placed my fish inside the pot and kept a close eye on the temperature gauge to keep it within the ideal range indicated. That part is something I need to work on... I think my glass electric range top can make it a bit tricky, but I did manage to get 2 nice pieces of smoked salmon after about 45 minutes. I'm sure I really didn't even need to go quite that long. I did enjoy the fish, but I must admit that this thing cannot compare to using a traditional outdoor smoker, which imparts more smoke flavor. It's still a very nice unit and I will continue to use it when I can't cook outdoors. Important note: Several hours later, there is still a very, VERY strong smoke odor in my home, even with an exhaust fan. I don't think this is avoidable with a stovetop smoker; it will still leak.

If it doesn’t work for you, that’s a you problem 😂
The media could not be loaded. Think of this as learning to use a grill or a cast iron skillet, it’ll season with use, if you’re willing to learn it’s great. My experience is small apartment kitchen, gas stove, no vent fan. I’ve only cooked a pork loin and chicken thighs so far but I will continue to use this smoker for many different things. I opened the windows a bit so no problem with smoke level, again experience with use.I know for sure, that it is better to start with the meat more at room temperature than refrigerator cold. Know your own space and stove before giving this a bad review- I wish I could cook outdoors but this smoker is the next best thing. I’m grateful I have the time to become accustomed to cooking with it 😊

Great Stovetop Smoker!
I love this smoker! I have three full-size outdoor, electric, and propane smokers. This little baby is fun and works for small quantities of food. My first try was to smoke a brined chicken. It came out deliciously smoked. The learning curve is to check for doneness at the lower end of the temperature guide. This may extend cooking times due to opening the smoker but this is direct heat like an oven and food can overcook. I liked this unit so much that I bought the extender for multilevel cooking, much like a steamer. Please read all the reviews for this smoker. I found that using a wire grill plate rather than the plate that came with this method will keep food from sticking. The plate that came with the smoker is perfect for food that is lower in fat. I also covered the drip plate with foil. This works for cleanup. You also have to keep your eye on the temperature gauge to make sure that the temperature is in a safe range for perfect cooking. This was a smart buy. I can't wait to experiment with other foods.
