Works, but check the header
Used this to reprogram the 16U2 on a knock-off Arduino Uno R3 which for some reason didn't have the stock firmware.Initially it didn't work at all - the usbasp appeared in lsusb, but avrdude couldn't find the 16U2.On a hunch I used a multimeter to check the header pins against the labelled outputs on the board, and sure enough it was back to front. I couldn't just plug it into the Arduino the other way around because the tab can't get past the header for the digital pins, but fortunately the black plastic shroud which covers the pins on the usbasp can easily be gently pulled off and put back on the other way. The manufacturer's photo above shows you which side the cutout should be on. Bit of a faff, but most people buying a usbasp in the first place will know enough to diagnose and fix a problem like that, so I'm only knocking off one star...After that - it worked beautifully! And for the price, and less than 24 hours delivery time, it seems decent.

Doesn't work
Tried with 2 different chips that were stated as being supported for this but could not get Comms to either. No official driver support and does not seem to be detected probably by Windows. Also did not work with Linux. Very poorly made with USB badly soldered and misalignmed.Suspect this one might have been faulty but given low quality and old firmware would not recommend for any modern OS.

Doesn’t work. Don’t bother
Tried updating the driver to libusb and turning off driver signatures but it still isn’t recognised by Atmel Studio 7.
