Impressive performance for size, rock solid reliability.
Arrived as described, as pictured, safe and sound. Build quality wise its pretty special, it has a dense plastic housing finished in a mat grey which gives it a slate look (hence the name) and you also get a nice LCD display which can be configured to give anything from traffic info to the time and date, it’s a novelty but a nice feature nevertheless. It looks and feels like a quality piece of kit - its quite a heavy item also.Function wise it has you covered with router, extender and access point modes, my own experiences with the device I have used this as my main router serving the entire house, covering half of the house’s wifi requirements as well as Ethernet connectivity (with the aid of a switch) to other access points and wired devices all over the property – all in around 25 devices. This came in quite handy actually as my existing router failed and with this taking its place for the last couple of weeks – it’s been rock solid.Performance wise I can’t really knock it at all, it works exceptionally well for such a small device, gives me near enough every megabit of my internet connection over Ethernet and not far off over over 5Ghz wifi either, I’ve been quite impressed with this to the point I will likely leave this in place as my main router.Configuration is done via a browser and has to be one the most well laid out setup pages I’ve used to date, its simple, clearly laid out and everything is fully configurable, you also have pre-set modes for functions such as access point and extender modes. You do have a cluster of Apps built in that cater for things like VPN’s, parental controls and an ad guard App which is supposed to pretty good when it comes to blocking ads and trackers – I’ve not tried any of these thus far.In the box you get a USB C to C cable, USB power supply with an assortment of plug adapters and a short Ethernet cable.Mild criticisms:For a travel router this is quite a heavy device, its also quite power hungry, you’ll need a decent PD/QC enabled power bank to run this reliably if you have no access to mains power, it will run from a standard 5v USB power supply/power bank but you’ll need something that can deliver at least 1.5 amps continuously.Highly recommended.

Solid travel buddy.
So far I have used this travel router both away from home for security and at home as a repeater to boost my network. The unit comes with a proper power supply with various adapters for international mains power, this is a rare thing these days as you are normally required to just run your device from any USB C power source. The device is easy to set up in its most basic form which is how I was using it, I am going to subscribe to a VPN service so that I can take full advantage of the security features. While away from home I was able to use three phones and two tablets simultaneously on hotel WiFi via the router with no problems buffering multimedia. Used at home it has removed a large dead area that I had where even a range extender kept falling over, very impressive. For such a small unit it packs a real punch and although it may seem expensive it really does the job. The other thing to mention is the build quality, most routers are as light as a feather with thin plastic panels, this feels absolutely solid and has mass for its size the antennae when folded cover the cooling vents and due to the clever design there is nothing to get snagged on anything.

Provided a good connection away from the main router giving you a good speed via WiFi 7
The GL.iNet GL-BE3600 (Slate 7) Portable Travel Router arrived the next day.The Travel Router was well packed and came with ethernet cable/USB power cable and instructions.I found the travel router to be well made and was a compact size which made it very portable with the fact it can be powered by USB from the mains or any battery source. There was 2 Ethernet confections one for in and 1 for out/1 USB C power in and 1 USB A slot as well as 2 flip up side aerials .There is a touch screen on the front of the router where you can put in the settings /scan QR codes monitor speed in real time, switch VPN on/off, and switch providers /do updates etc.It will provide a wifi hotspot devices if needed which supports WPA3 protocol as well as lots of other settings as well as VPN settings. It has a dual band network with wireless speeds of 688Mbps and 2882Mbps and there is about 30 service providers on the system if neededWe found it was easy to connect as a hotspot and provided a good connection away from the main router giving you a good speed with WiFi 7 if your devices take WiFi 7 or it will still work well if your devices work on WiFi 5/6 as some of our older computers did, overall we are pleased with this small portable router for how well it works and how useful we think it will be to us.

Handy
This has turned out to be a really handy portable router.I primarily got it to use when im travelling away from home in the UK but its also come in extremely handy at extending my wifi in my house as well. There were places in my outbuildings that I really struggled to get signal but this router has solved the problem. It’s easy to set up, use and connect and gives great signal quality without any issues. This machine has OpenWrt 23.05 (Kernel 5.4.213) for customising and advanced networking capabilities, with 1GB of storage, it also has OpenVPN and WireGuard which are pre-installed and compatible with 30+ VPN service providers. When away from home I found it easy to connect to my wifi spots and it was reassuring to know that not only does it make it easier to connect to the internet but I was much safer on my devices whilst in use.The slate 7 automatically encrypts all network traffic within the connected network and I found it was easy to connect my phone, tablet and laptop top to it.I found the router itself to look a bit basic in design although I do like the led touch screen and the machine does feel well made and is compact and portable, and more importantly, it performs great.Comes with a power adapter which was an added bonus.Al in all, I’m very happy with this router and would recommend.
