Yes, this beard oil has a silicone base. And that's a bummer. But when you need to tame a 10" wiry thick beard, this really is one of the few beard oils I've found that allows you to run a comb through your beard after applying some of this oil. I usually use this oil once or twice a week (after washing my beard). Wash your beard, let it air dry completely. Then lay a little line of JS Sloane Beard Oil down 1-4 fingers (palm side - and the amount depends on how big your beard is), and then rub that oil across the fingers of your other hand, and start working it into your beard. Once you have it worked in, grab your beard comb and start combing it all out. If the silicone feels like it's on too heavy, you can always wipe some off your beard. No big deal. On the other days of the week, I will rinse my beard - but not wash it, let it air dry, and then apply a natural-base oil such as Mister Brown's Beard Oil ‘No 17 Whiskey Cider’, Beard Whiskey's ‘No. 1 Tobacco Bourbon’, or Duke Cannon Supply Co's ‘Best Damn Beard Oil’. I also like seeing what the folks at local farmer's markets are selling and love to support their grassroots efforts. These all smell terrific, feel nice and keep your beard healthy, shiny and vibrant. I've had my beard for years, and this is the best process that I've found that keeps it healthy, clean and looking great.

UPDATE: STILL THE BEST!! I have been using this stuff for almost 2 years now and I have been trying to mix things up and have tried a few more oils that are recommended online and highly rated on Amazon. But I cant quit this stuff. The other brands have left weird smells that will get on your hands if you happen to touch your beard later in the day, let alone the smell... I just cannot find anything that absorbs well and doesnt leave a not so pleasant oily smell. Whatever JS Sloane is doing, they are doing it right. If you want something that absorbs well and is just a solid oil that has a refreshing fragrance but doesn't leave you smelling like a lumberjack.. this is the stuff. ....................................................................................... I can't live without this stuff. It's a high quality product and not a gimmicky beard oil that gives you insane shine and insane smell. I got it as a recommendation from my bearded barber. Its very light weight in the sense that it doesn't leave your beard super shiny and greasy. It absorbs really well and keeps the beard soft and moisturized. Makes my beard feel closer to head hair than hair that's found elsewhere... Has a really nice CLEAN scent. Far from over powering and disappears shortly after application, which I like. I don't like smelling like a forest all day like other products i've used do. Lady approved! :)

I do not write many reviews but I wanted to give one for this product! I am always scouting for hair products - thick curly hair products for me and beard products for him. I stumbled upon this product while visiting a rockabilly style barber shop in Oakland,CA about a yr ago and fell in love with the scent. I was like, we are not leaving out of here without it. He loved it so much that he preserves it for special occasions >.< lol. So I just repurchased to make sure I can smell it on him as much as possible. Great product! Ladies will love it.

I’m on my 3rd or 4th bottle. Smells great. Perfect consistency. A little goes a long way to giving my, mostly salt and a little pepper, beard a nice healthy shine. Any excess I rub into my tattoos and skin like a moisturizer. Added benefit of acting like a cologne. Good stuff.

The product itself is fine but they switched packaging to a plastic pop tab bottle. Put that in the dopp kit and oil everywhere. Ruined quite a bit of personal care products. I’ll find a different product with packaging that can’t be inadvertently opened by a nudge

I buy this beard oil for my boyfriend and he really loves it. Plus, the smell of this oil is amazing - as are all js products. They have mastered the good, clean, manly smell. This oil makes his beard so soft and helps for when he wants to grow it out! Love this stuff!

Warning fellas , I put this beard oil on in the morning and while I was heading out the door to work I asked my wife what she thought of it . She immediately dragged me back into the bedroom and long story short , I was late for work and missed a meeting!! Use at your own peril

My husband loves your beard oil. We have tried many different brands and he is brand loyal so this is what we're sticking with. He has found his perfect match. My only complaint is the lid. This would be a five star review, but the lid doesn't tighten well. If you try to tighten it, it will go around again. You have to find the right spot to call it closed. We found out the hard way during a trip for a funeral. The oil spilled in our suitcase and ruined many articles of clothing. We had to buy new clothing on our trip and I wasn't able to get the oil spots out at home so all of our old clothes went in the trash. It was also only days after purchase so $21 on the oil down the drain. My husband still wanted to purchase another but we put it in a Ziploc bag when traveling now.

The best beard oil out there. Does the trick and smells amazing. The only downside is that it is so hard to get as it is in very short supply. If you see it and it is available - don’t hesitate and buy!
