Music Theory for Bass Players Book/Online Media

This book is exactly what I was looking for.To show my personal context, for the last 30 years, I've been a moderately skilled drummer who dabbled in bass. For the last 2 years, I've been working exclusively on bass.I've not had a lot of exposure to music theory, and what I HAVE had was with no application to how it might apply to a more melodic (i.e., less chordal) instrument like the bass. I wanted to learn more, but was always overwhelmed by the resources online.This book is the answer to that gap. It communicates the basics well (e.g., positions, fretboard knowledge, etc.), and then leads into a clear, concise explanation of notes and interval structures that are fundamental to subsequent chapters. Those subsequent chapters continue to explain chords, movements, modes, etc. *as they apply to bass guitar*, and even supplies examples of how to use them.This book truly contains the knowledge I was looking for.

Of the many books out there, this one is precise in explanations and application. Well done!

I received this book today and I’ve already started reading it. Let me tell you, this book is a joy to read, with so much information that it’s hard to put down. It has information for all levels of bass playing. Do yourself a favor and buy this important informative book. It’s part of Hal Leonard’s library how could you go wrong?
