Better than private school!
Our 5-yr old just started the 1st grade books. We also have an 8-yr old who has nearly completed the 6th grade version of these books (started the Kindergarten version) , and she is the brightest 8-yr old we've come in contact with.Highly recommended! No religious, or ethnocentric spin (aside from the fact that they’re designed for American children), just straight facts!

Good book and informative
Great book but just not enough information, and wished the pictures would have been in color!!! Needed extra help/ materials to go with this book.

Too easy for first grade
Too easy for first grade this book really doesn’t have a lot to do with history or social studies. We homeschool our kids and bought the entire 180 workbook collection the only ones I personally think are worth buying or the English books, reading, writing, spelling, sight words. All the other books are very repetitive and too easy for our first grader our youngest is in kindergarten and even she says the books are easy

not awful
got this book today for my 6 yo. it's not bad so far. we got it to supplement some social studies with our other homeschool curriculum. it's not a super fit when it talks about the classroom and going to school so much but my 6 yo understands homeschoolers do it different. the two biggest cons: really wish it was color, the money you spend you'd think it could be printed in color so some of the assignments make more sense (like the comparing pictures pages) and the other thing, this is most definitely not 180 lessons... we just sat down and in 20 minutes went through the first 6 weeks in a breeze and I don't imagine the future lessons will take very long either. I will say when we hit our stopping point tonight my 6yo said "I like that book, it's fun" so she approves. all in all not a bad buy. just has some places it could improve for sure.

Subject matter order is disconcerting at times.
Some parts of this book feel useful and they are teaching concepts like mapping or rules or the concepts of needs vs wants. Some pages were rough to get into because they have a very little blurb about an important person without context. I felt like I had to jump around in history and try to explain things we haven't gotten to yet for the page to feel relevant. There is no color in the book. I feel like this is good to add into your workbooks if you pick and choose which pages to use.

Great for 1st grade
It’s 1 page a day and my first grader loves it. We homeschool and by the time we get to it she’s about ready for schoolTo be over so it’s perfect because it’s quick but still gets the subject done in learning.
