Do NOT use the OTC lice shampoos - RobiComb actually works and is totally safe
My daughter came home from camp with lice. This is the first experience I have ever had with lice, so I promptly headed to the pharmacy to pick up a bottle of lice shampoo. I wanted it taken care of right away, so I got the extra strength stuff that supposedly kills the "super lice" that are resistant to being killed by the lice shampoos. I washed her hair following the package directions exactly. Several lice died and came out in the wash. I thought I had success. I then spent a torturous 2.5 hours meticulously combing through her long thick hair with a "professional" metal nit comb. A lot came out so I thought we had conquered them. The next day, we went through the 2.5-hour comb-through process again. She had many live bugs that did not look at all fazed by the shampoo residue that was supposedly still active. I ordered the Robi-Comb at this point. The next day, same 2.5 hour comb-through - more bugs came out than the day before. Obviously the shampoo did not work (I later found out from a medical journal that the OTC shampoos are only 25% effective. Pharmacists are no longer even recommending to use the shampoos because they are a neuro-disruptor and are not effective. Shame on them for selling toxic products that don't even work!!).Finally my RobiComb arrived. The entire comb-through process was dramatically cut down - from 2.5 hours to 30 minutes - because you can comb through a bigger section at once. The RobiComb gets out the tiniest of newly-hatched bugs (see my picture - you will see an adult louse, a nymph, and a few newly-hatched bugs). Within 1 week, my daughter was completely lice-free! Unfortunately, sometime during this process my son got lice too. One week with the RobiComb for 10 minutes a day (he has short hair) and he is lice-free as well. Our entire family now uses the RobiComb on a weekly basis just as a preventative measure.

I cannot get it to work
First of all, opening the battery compartment was unnecessarily difficult. It have yet to use this comb, because it does not work. I turn it on and there is a high pitched screech. I have cleaned the comb, despite it being brand new. Still nothing, double checked that the battery is in properly, looked for any visible damage to the device, etc.

Literal game changer for mites FOR REAL
The Robicomb has been a literal life saver, game changer – I could not even tell you how much this thing has helped me feel better when it comes to these tiny little clowns(bird and rodent mites) that I can't blow dry all the way out of my hair sometimes? For someone like myself with MCAS, it also genuinely saves me having to take so many antihistamines from the bites I would be getting.I think there are a few down sides to it, though nothing major! The Robicomb is a little hard to get the hang of initially, but trust me, do not give up! It just takes a little practice and getting used to as it's not the exact same as a traditional lice comb. It does work, like 100%, it's a literal game changer and allowed me to sleep.Something else I realized is that the noise could definitely scare a smaller child with lice. It's already a pretty stressful time in my mind, so that in and of itself struck me as something that could be worthwhile to mention. Another thing is, when the comb finally does 'zap', it does make a very pronounced 'zapping' noise, so I feel as though parents who may be using this comb on their child's hair may want to explain this to them BEFORE using the product so it doesn't potentially freak them out in an already awful situation? The last thing is, you can sometimes accidentally 'zap' yourself. It's comparable to what I would say is those old-school prank toys where you shake someone's hand and you get zapped – just a bit stronger. However, it does sting a fair bit when you do for around 15-25 seconds. I would say make sure to take care in communicating with your child about this if you're planning on using this for lice removal, and to thoroughly read the instructions because you do not want to nearly use the Robicomb™ on wet hair like myself! As a final note: the Robicomb actually works incredibly well on fleas and mites for cats. Complete and utter gold star actually, because I was actually just messing around, but the Robicomb did not come to play with those bugs. Took them out and beat them up!I cannot give this little tool enough credit, and I'll probably buy a couple more just to use for my cat, and for my family, too! Totally a nifty invention, and I'm thrilled to have found something like it!
